Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
When the issues of a game are rolled and stomped by its greatness, then it’s something to invest on if you have some spare.
I was worried Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time would be a cheap cash grab, but I was wrong. There are some flaws, but the most important aspect — the franchise’s ethos — is fully intact and on full display, making this a game that’s sure to leave fans spellbound
Little Witch Academia, created by Studio Trigger, has managed to find its success worldwide thanks to its quirky characters and its magical academy setting in the vein of the more popular Harry Potter. While the influence is certainly there, it wouldn't be right to label the anime simply as the Japanese Harry Potter, as it has branched off its main inspiration quite a bit. As with every popular anime around, from Dragon Ball to Naruto to Bleach to One Piece, the Little Witch Academia world has been brought in the video gaming world with Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time, a side-scrolling ...
Recent anime games, like Dragon Ball FighterZ and Attack on Titan 2, have done exceedingly well by leaning into their source material, creating unique experiences that revolve around what their respective series are about. Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time is another game that tries to do just that, and while it succeeds in some areas, it falls flat on its face in others.
The localized version of Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time is launched for PlayStation 4 and PC (Steam) recently! The side-scrolling action JRPG was available in Japan since last November, and now Bandai Namco Entertainment Asia is bringing it to the global market. We are pleased to be able to enjoy the game so here is our Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time review!
The fanservice (not that kind) Little Witch Academia Chamber of Time provides can be ever-so-pleasing. Unfortunately, it's not enough to excuse a rather dull game.
Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time is heartbreaking. I’m a huge fan of the original anime, and this game does a tremendous job of capturing the heart and personality of that world. Characters look and sound incredible, and getting to explore their school and experience new adventures with them is a blessing. Unfortunately, obtaining that blessing requires a two-mile crawl on your knees through the jagged glass and thorny ivy that is the busted, broken, and simply not fun gameplay of Chamber of Time. Battles are aggravating and exploration is mind-numbing. For as brilliant as the narrative ...
Chamber of Time has an exceptional soundtrack and strong voice acting, though certain combat lines get run into the ground very quickly. The orchestral music is gorgeous, and gives off a feeling of wonderment that fits the world of Little Witch Academia quite well. The voice actresses definitely give it their all as well, giving their characters extra layers of personality.
Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time is a disappointment. You can see the brilliance of its world, characters and heart shining through like a star. You can even see the skeleton of a genuinely deep RPG title. But the game fights your efforts to enjoy yourself at every opportunity, be it via bad design choices, repetitious gameplay or infuriating technical problems. Also, fifty bucks. The brand deserves better, if only we could turn back the clock so easily.
Riddled with extremely tedious design decisions and frustrating technical hiccups, not even a believing heart can save this trainwreck.
Since reading the novels of a certain boy wizard, one of my biggest dreams, or fantasies depending on how you look at it, was to become a wizard in training. Of course as we already know I’m also a huge anime fan, so when a series like Little Witch Academia was introduced to me, combining two of my biggest pleasures, I instantly fell in love with the story and its characters. Once Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time was announced I’ll admit I was really excited, but as always also nerv...
Exploring a magic academy and brawling through some 2.5D dungeons should be a fun time, right? Unfortunately, the magic touch seems to have eluded Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time.
