Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders is truly a gem, and it manages to take an already fantastic concept and make it even better. The wintry environments are as beautiful as they are challenging, and the new gameplay mechanics make the experience feel fresh and new. The game may require both skill and patience, at least if you really want to try to unlock everything, but it also rewards you afterwards with both gruellingly satisfying gameplay, as well as downright breathtakingly beautiful vistas. In short, for fans of the first game, Snow Riders is a definite buy, an absolute must. But it's also an e...

The developers at Megagon Industries have done a great job on building on their first game by adding a bunch of excellent new ideas, a fun multiplayer suite and what feels like a great, fresh take on skiing with the tight, responsive controls they’re known for. It’s addictive, thrilling stuff and I can’t wait to hit the slopes as soon as I’ve finished writing this. It’s available on Xbox Game Pass and Steam, and I hope you try it out.

I rarely, if ever, play any kind of racing games nowadays and while one might not consider this a racing game, it still definitely fills that niche for some gamers. That being said, Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders was a lot of fun! It strikes a nice balance between those looking to break some time records on a trail and those looking to unwind and take a trip down some beautiful mountainsides. My hope is that Megagon Industries continues to invest in this game and develop more facets that keep future players hitting the slopes as time goes by!

The death of the SSX franchise, as well as Ubisoft’s Steep‘s unfortunate lack of success, have resulted in the actual death on skiing and snowboard-themed games in modern consoles. In fact, if it wasn’t for the NHL series, and the odd time a freaking curling game dropped on the Switch, there wouldn’t be any winter sports games at all. This is the reason why Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders caught my attention almost immediately. Finally, a brand new winter sports game. Even if it wasn’...

The last thing to note is that not only is multiplayer the best way to enjoy Snow Riders, but it's probably the easiest way to progress. The game's leveling system isn't ideal and many of its better skis are locked behind the progression system. In single-player, progress depends on hitting the various objectives from each course. However, multiplayer allows the player to progress after successful sessions, meaning there's less pressure on succeeding and the focus is more on relaxing and having fun, which is supposedly what the idea of these Lonely Mountains are about in the first place.
