Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Your favorite cartoon characters are back, and better than last time. This character racing game embodies your childhood, no matter how old you are, and has enough content to keep you going for quite some time. The first Nickelodeon Kart Racers didn't do so hot, but this time around, it's got what you're looking for.
A fun kart racing game that offers four player local and online multiplayer with a huge cast of characters from the Nickelodeon catalogue of shows that you can use to build your dream racing team. It has you racing on tracks inspired by the cartoons and featuring the music you know.
Nickelodeon Kart Racers was a very fun kart racer but there's now a delightful sequel and it's a huge step up from the original.
The original Nickelodeon Kart Racers was released in 2018, and well, there’s no other way of saying this: it was crap. It was really, really bad, with clunky controls, poor presentation, and not a lot of content. The announcement of a sequel, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix, had me worried and excited at the same time. As far as karting games go, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix is one of the better entries in the genre. If you’ve played the first, you’ll appreciate the extra work that’s gone into making this a bigger and better sequel. Extra characters, improved visuals and a whole host of extra content are all very welcome. It’s just a shame that there’s still no real personality coming through from any of its included franchises. Still, if you want to play a fun racing game, solo or with friends, you can do a lot worse.
Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix is a decent kart racing game. The tracks are well made and take proper inspiration from Nickelodeon’s retinue of shows, the Crew system adds a tactical element, and the challenges are decent, but it's just missing a little sparkle and a certain charm. Still, it's a thoroughly competent kart racer that leaves its predecessor in the dirt.
You better have to choose if it’s worth spending your spare cash, because it might not be the game for you and it might be for others.
The visuals of Kart Racers 2 are suitably cartoony, with all the characters adhering to a fairly unified artstyle. It works well, as each character still retains their original charm and style without clashing with one another when put side-by-side. I do wish there were voice clips for each character, as it’s eerily quiet when you hit enemies or win races.
