Pinball FX

Zen Studios has been developing pinball games since essentially the developer’s inception in 2007. Their latest free-to-start game, Pinball FX, has released on all current and last-gen consoles. We’ve knocked some virtual balls around for a bit, and have arrived with our Pinball FX PS5 review to see if there’s anything new and noteworthy this time around.

But at the end of the day, thanks to incredible recreations of real-life tables such as the Williams classics and countless original creations that are generally of quite impressive quality and level of detail, Pinball FX (2023) remains the best pinball videogame franchise you can get on the marketplace. You’d think Pinball FX – the rebooted pinball compilation from Hungarian developer Zen Studios – would be the least controversial release of the year, wouldn’t you? But this is the video game industry, and controversy is effectively its middle name. So, the studio has come under intense scrutiny for not allowing owners of its previous efforts – like Pinball FX3 – to carry forward their DLC. It’s a fair comment when you consider, despite being remastered in Unreal Engine, the meat-and-potatoes of the experience remain very much the same.
