Real Boxing Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Real Boxing is definitely a contender for the most authentic and feature-filled nod to boxing on iOS. But Like an out-of-shape fighter, you can’t always rely on many of the game’s features. The bugs keep the game from being a knockout, but it’s at least a TKO for anyone in love with the pugilistic past-time.
‘On-the-go’ boxing games aren’t at the top of my list for must play games, but Real Boxing for the PS Vita makes an honest effort to combine real boxing with some fun arcade elements thrown into the mix. My first impression is that the game mirrors the Fight Night franchise pretty closely from its presentation to the fighting mechanics. Real Boxing is available from the PS Store and it is a painless download, just make sure to have enough card space to install it on. I ran into space issues and kept getting error codes while downloading until I finally made some room on my memory card.
Real Boxing is a perfect example of why I love what the Vita is becoming. It’s one of the many indie games that are finding its way onto the console, and while it’s not worth buying a console for, once you have one of Sony’s powerhouses in your hands it’s well worth the download, because it’s absolutely worth the investment.
Vivid Games has done an honorable job of porting a microtransaction-filled mobile game over to the PlayStation Vita, but the port has arrived on the PSN with some of the same flaws present in the original. If you’re a huge fan of boxing games and have been itching for something to fill that void, Real Boxing may do it for you — otherwise, just keep waiting.
Real Boxing, powered by the Unreal Engine 3, takes players on a journey from amateur to pro in one of the most comprehensive sporting games ever delivered in a handheld.
As the first boxing game on the PS Vita, Real Boxing has set a high standard. It may not be anything ground-breaking but I feel the title should be regarded as one of the Vita’s best games yet. With vastly improved visuals, animations and control schemes over the mobile version, Real Boxing on the Vita is surely the best version of the game to get. Even with the stacks of content available, for me the game works best as a pick up and play title for those using their Vita on the go.
