Silver Pines is a masterpiece, blending gorgeous animation, a compelling mystery and rewarding exploration that makes its haunting town hard to leave.
With a mystery worthy of Twin Peaks, a town that rewards every detour and voice acting that would shame far bigger budgets, Silver Pines proves that a tiny indie team can beat the genre's giants at their own game.
With Silver Pines, Wych Elm combines the Metroidvania and survival horror genres. Can it be labeled a success? You can read about it in the review!
The autumn of 2026 is turning into a true golden age for fans of horror games. Hot on the heels of Silent Hill Townfall and releasing simultaneously
The project shines thanks to its traditional rotoscoping animation, impeccable setting, and elegant integration of exploration, mystery, and horror.
Review: Its combat is a bit clunky, but Silver Pines is otherwise an excellent survival horror Metroidvania.
Silver Pines proves that the survival horror and Metroidvania genres were made for each other. It's not terribly scary, and the enemy encounters could be better, but its mysterious Twin Peaks-inspired narrative, excellent atmosphere, and great map design make it a must-play experience.
Silver Pines blends the best of Silent Hill and Twin Peaks into a metroidvania that every horror fan should experience.

Silver Pines | Review | Wych Elm's Lynchian-inspired Metroidvania takes us to a small, desolate town.
Silver Pines is a great example of ingenuity in the survival horror genre. It has immaculately creepy vibes and a mystery and setting that fit perfectly.
Silver Pines can be a bit obtuse at points with its clues and certainly allows you to wander a bit too much too quickly, but it makes up for it with rewarding exploration, an intriguing world, and a great sense of cleverness in its progression.
Silent Hill isn't the only abandoned haunted town where something evil lurks. Welcome to Silver Pines.

Jarrod Garripoli visits what appears to be a ghost town in the Gamer Guides review for Silver Pines.
Silver Pines draws plenty of inspiration from its contemporaries, but unlike other love letters to gaming and television classics, it finds the means to make things its own. While it fails to sell me on the combination of the horror and Metroidvania genres, Silver Pines’ fascinating premise, thought-provoking ending, and remarkable art direction kept me seated from beginning to end.
Silver Pines is a cerebrally divine love letter to David Lynch and all the narrative trademarks he was known for, from the cult classic Twin Peaks to Blue Velvet and Lost Highway. It digs even deeper to its spiritual successor Silent Hill, from the fog-filled streets to the nightmares that lurk with bared teeth, and embraces all those inspirations with the utmost grace and respect while still very much telling its own story. Combat can take a bit to get used to, but feels satisfying after a while with plenty of options at Walker's disposal. Meanwhile, the core investigation aspect of the game is well-executed if a bit unforgiving to the distracted player.
