Sine Mora EX

The art design is simply stellar throughout, with the diesel-punk aesthetic giving way to some truly memorable boss designs. The key upgrade in this department is a visual bump for the current generation, and for those with a PS4 Pro (the version tested) or a PC with the necessary oomph, it’ll put out a lovely 4K image, mostly displaying at 60fps. There was only one noticeable drop during my time with the game, where a large amount of the scenery was collapsing, but otherwise the game is silky smooth. Just what you need when you’re faced with a screen full of brightly coloured bullets.

One of the best-looking 2D shooters of recent years is remastered for the current gen, and offers a fun way in for gamers new to the genre.

Sine Mora EX isn’t actually the shining beacon that all SHMUP’s should inspire to be, but that game is still a fantastic entry. But for the price, exceptionally replay value and fantastic visuals, you definitely can’t go wrong snagging up the title for a weekend venture. A fantastic skyward entry that both novices to the genre and grizzled SHMUP vets can both enjoy.

Sine Mora EX is a tough-as-nails but engrossing shoot ‘em up that has some innovative mechanics and a pretty interesting story. While it may not be for everyone, those who are interested in the genre will find something to love with the new improvements that the EX version provides.

It's hard not to be skeptical whenever newer versions of games release not too long after their initial debut. Sine Mora EX builds upon the original 2012 game but is it a shmup worth revisiting?

Conquer the skies as you seek revenge for the death of your son. It will not be a smooth flight, but when the blood of a descendant is spilled, the desire for justice trespasses all barriers. If you think you have what it takes to take down those who put a bullet through the back of your son's head, get inside your cockpit and make sure your enemies regret their mistake.
