Professional reviews from gaming critics
The authors from GSC Gameworld are expanding Stalker 2 with a new expansion with a new story, which is being released along with the 2.0 update, moving the entire game forward.
This DLC brings a 'Cyberpunk: Phantom Liberty'- style improvement to the game, with a truly fantastic expansion. Our 'STALKER 2: Cost of Hope' Review.
GSC Game World's first major DLC for Stalker 2 delivers 20+ hours of story, two new regions, and a 2.0 update that finally makes the base game feel finished, though a clumsy final boss and the Zone's brutal travel times still hold it back.
STALKER 2: Cost of Hope brings players back into the Zone with a new faction-driven story, two explorable regions, fresh equipment, and major improvements from Update 2.0.
While S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is already a great open-world game in its own right, its first expansion takes things further with entirely new zones to explore.
After navigating the deepest and darkest depths of the Zone, the biggest compliment I have for Cost of Hope is that, as soon as I finished playing it, I went back to the main menu and started a new save so I could experience everything from the beginning. Cost of Hope and the 2.0 update are STALKER at its finest, and it has finally reached the point where "what's the best STALKER game" is purely a matter of taste.
STALKER 2's Cost of Hope expansion sees old faction rivalries outshone by its haunting new survival playgrounds. Here's our full review.
