Super Dungeon Bros certainly has personality, we'll give it that. The title is shouted at you above a heavy soundtrack, the game tells you to 'Press X to rock', and you feel like you know how things are going to go from there. When you start the quest, an opening cut-scene begins, introducing the bros (all named after rock stars, of course) and their "awesome, dude!" personalities. A vinyl record played backwards tells them to use the power of rock to conquer the crypts, because then they'll get better weapons and, er, that's cool, right?

There are good ideas in Super Dungeon Bros, such as the inclusion of challenges, the Call of Duty-esque upgrades, and the teamwork-centred dungeon-crawling. Where it falls down is at the basics: good, satisfying combat and challenging gameplay. Pressing the same buttons over and over can only entertain for so long, even if your points score is rocketing up. What’s more, the pay-to-upgrade mechanics very much put restrictions on the content available to you unless you are willing to part with more money. One thing that I really like about playing video games in 2016 is that there are so many high caliber games to choose from. Sadly, titles like Super Dungeon Bros remind me that not all games are high caliber. In fact, some games aren’t even mediocre. This game takes aspects of previous dungeon brawlers and demonstrates what they would be like if they had repetitive level design, bare bones characters and frequent technical difficulties.

Join Freddie, Axl, Lars and Ozzie as they bulldoze through monster-filled dungeons and unleash their fiery rock 'n roll skills on endless hordes of minions. Super Dungeon Bros is a simple hack-and-slash dungeon crawler with very little getting in the way of the action. Simply choose your bro, pick up a devastating weapon and wreak havoc!
