Wuppo Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Wuppo is a delightful world that is ruled by various groups of small creatures. Collect countless items, equipment, and solve fun puzzles, all while exploring the detailed history of the world and finding a new home after being kicked out of the WumHouse.
Play as an exiled wum looking for a new home in this charming world that's filled with strange creatures, puzzles, monsters and political chaos.
In summary, Wuppo is a fun game with a lot of heart, made all the more enjoyable by the clearly evident fact that it has been meticulously and lovingly created. Wuppo is a game with character; it knows exactly what it wants to be and what it wants to do, and it accomplishes those tasks elegantly and creatively. I can’t ask much more of a game. It’s one of those special games that not only manages to look interesting on its Steam page, but actually delivers on the interest it sparks.
Wuppo, despite a couple of small issues, is a heartening adventure in a winsome, self-contained world that’s full of quirk-riddled characters and adorably monstrous bosses.
With a distinct sense of humour and a few secrets hidden beneath its cutesy demeanor, Wuppo will surprise any player that hasn’t seen it in action before. This sense of surprise is consistent throughout and is only made that much better when bosses are introduced. Interesting areas with bizarre characters and tons of items to play with, Wuppo will keep you busy for a remarkable amount of time.
I really tried to enjoy Wuppo, but the technical issues and frustrating game design made it feel like such a chore. It’s a shame too because this could have been a great game otherwise. As it stands right now, however, the problems vastly outweigh the things that Wuppo does right.
Wuppo, from its title all the way to its gameplay, is a peculiar game. It is a 2D RPG with a design that can be described as a child’s coloring book. The world of Wuppo is an endearing and colorful sight full of adventures and new “wums” to meet. Wums are the most intelligent creatures of the game who have successfully built a tall tower known as the Wum House. This is where the game begins.
If you like charming platformers then Wuppo may just be for you. The game offers a fun, though at times frustrating experience with a number of challenges to overcome. The world of Wuppo is quite unlike any other and filled with a lot of neat little touches, and though the story may be predictable it is well-told, likeable and easy to pick up.
