Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack stole my heart. It's visually delicious, the cutscenes ooze with humor, and the actual gameplay feels perfectly balanced. It won't take you long to go through every level, but doubling back to polish off collectables and earn gold medals will keep me playing. Plus, it's only $8 in the United States -- making it the cheapest title in the PlayStation Vita's launch lineup.
Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack was originally released as a launch title for the PS Vita and now has made its way to the PS3 and Xbox 360. Today we’re taking a look at the PS3 version but, regardless of console, if you have not yet played this game it is well worth your money. And its made by a Canadian-based developer no less.
When the first Tales from Space: About a Blob hit the PlayStation 3, it caught most people off guard with its wild 50's sci-fi theme and engaging puzzle-platformer gameplay. Now with the release of the PlayStation Vita, developer Drinkbox Studios has crafted a sequel that not only features every ounce of playability and charm of the original release, but also adds a wealth of new play control twists courtesy of the Vita's impressive arsenal of control capabilities.
Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack is a side-scrolling puzzle platformer about an ornery mutant blob that, after being held captive in a lab that can only be described as something out of a retro sci-fi movie from the early '50s, escapes into the world and sets out on a path to destroy and consume everything!

Mutant Blobs Attack has a charming sense of humor which is illustrated through the colorful and cleaver art style. Signs throughout the background are full of puns of video game references and pop culture. Beer cans clearly designed to look like Pabst Blue Ribbon are labeled hipster juice and I saw a billboard for a music shop with the tag line “All your bass are belong to us.” I found myself constantly admiring the background art and reading every sign that I could find trying to figure out what part of Internet culture, or which existing video game they were acknowledging.
