Tales of Symphonia Chronicles Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
As a complete high-definition package, Tales of Symphonia Chronicles doesn’t make a great deal of strides. Its lack (or at least toning down) of the original’s trademark cell-shading will rub many aficionados the wrong way. Features like the addition of a Japanese voice track (and, by extension, audio for the optional skits since there is none for the English dub) are worthwhile enhancements but the value of such things is highly subjective, particularly when this is one of the rare instances where the English dub is wonderful.
Experience the most celebrated Tales of game to date, Tales of Symphonia, again for the first time with crisp and colorful high definition graphics and additional content along with its 2008 sequel Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World.
Tales of Symphonia is a classic JRPG from the GameCube era with a wide following, multiple (mostly Japanese) spin-offs, and now a well-deserved HD remaster. In addition to the underrated and underplayed gem, this new collection also contains the second game in the series, Dawn of the New World – although the primary reason for its inclusion appears to be to help you to appreciate the original that little bit more.
Does the most celebrated ‘Tales of’ game still stand tall in its tenth anniversary re-release?
