If you’re already a fan of The Expanse, you’re undoubtedly going to get more out of this than a newcomer. But don’t write The Expanse: A Telltale Series off even if you’ve never seen it before – this prequel makes a great starting point, thanks to its cast of new characters and focus on space exploration. As great as the story is, filled with thrills and tense moments, the highlight has been digging through the eerie, empty wreckages of spacecraft and space stations. It’s safe to say that Telltale’s return is a strong one, and we’re excited to see what the company does next.

The Expanse: A Telltale Series is a fun game that doesn’t stray from Telltale’s normal formula but is strong when viewed within that category. If you like the show or the books, you’ll get a kick out of it.

Based on the popular Amazon Prime sci-fi television series, The Expanse: A Telltale Series is a story-driven interactive game.

The Expanse is Telltale Game's return back to form and it is great to see it, especially on the Steam Deck!

Camina Drummer is the perfect character to navigate this world; a flawed, haunted, and above all else hopeful individual. Perhaps most importantly, she does not start as the Captain, she is nobody's hero. Just as we the player are, she is simply trying to make the best decisions she can between doing the right thing and ensuring her crew live to see another day. That's the beauty of The Expanse: A Telltale Series, and I can't wait to see how the remaining episodes wrap up the story.

Telltale’s entry to The Expanse feels like an obvious move. A world rife with conflict, character and violence is reimagined through the snarky and laser-focused lens of Camina Drummer - and it’s brimming with life and excitement. This carefully spun narrative buries the arbitrary action gameplay, and is totally worth the few hours you’ll need spare to sink this game.

Episode 3: First Ones raises the stakes for Telltale's version of The Expanse, but it's a short experience to be released two weeks apart.

August 31, 2023 Read Review

Like an interactive multi-episode spinoff of the TV show, The Expanse leaves room for improvement but offers a solid sci-fi experience in which time seems to fly by.

The Expanse: A Telltale Series is a positive step in the right direction for the newly reconsecrated developer, capturing the essence of what made its initial efforts so successful in the first place. It's sharp, well-paced interactive media that delivers on the expected premise, telling an original story set in an established universe in that signature Telltale style.

Unfortunately The Expanse: A Telltale Series probably won’t stick with me like The Wolf Among Us or even The Walking Dead did. But there is still some fun to be had, and it’s proof there is the potential to add a little more gameplay to Telltale titles. I even think another proper Expanse entry that has a bit more meaningful of a story to tell could be perfect for the Telltale formula. If that happens, I hope the narrative doesn’t play it too safe next time.

Following the studio’s majority closure 5 years ago, Telltale Games is back with its signature brand of point-and-click adventure games with The Expanse: A Telltale Series. Co-developed with Deck Nine, the game is a prequel to the hit Syfy/Amazon Prime TV series The Expanse, which itself was based on the series of novels by James S.A. Corey. The Expanse: A Telltale Series offers a good amount of fanservice for fans of the show, with a killer central performance by Cara Gee, however, it suff...

The penultimate episode of Telltale's The Expanse is here and so is the unfortunate illusion of choice. This review will cover Episode 4 of The Expanse: A Telltale Series, dissecting its gameplay, plot, music and overall impact. Ever since Episode 1, it felt as though each episode released was a bit of a downgrade from its predecessor, does Episode 4 fall under the same category?

Telltale & Deck Nine's Expanse prequel weaves a compelling-enough yarn, but archaic design elements could tempt even ardent fans into spacing it.Return of the king!  Well, perhaps that's too presumptuous a title, given how this specific clade of Simon-Says [...]
