While it may look simple and even a bit silly on the surface, The Final Station is quite the captivating game. The story and survival aspects have been blended wonderfully, and it leaves you with plenty to mull over long after the credits roll.
Do My Best Games’ first foray into game development is a fantastic one. They really have “done their best” and created something wholly unique, tense and with more going on than first meets the eye. At its foundation, The Final Station may just be a very solid 2D action-adventure game but it is done so well, creating an almost survival horror-like experience, that it deserves genuine applause. The Final Station succeeds as a tense and intriguing entry to the side-scrolling shooter genre.
The Final Station has a lot going for it, honestly. It knows what it wants to be, and it does a fantastic job at accomplishing what it sets out to do. It executes gameplay, atmosphere, and design in a very controlled manner. The story may be somewhat weak, but don’t let that deter you from picking this one up. When a zombie apocalypse threatens the human race, what better place to find safety in than a strong locomotive. Travel the rails, rescue survivors, keep said survivors alive, and reach the final station no matter what. There are a handful of zombie types, so evolve the best you can to combat them. Everything you need to know about the game can be found right here!
All aboard my crazy train.
It’s interesting to come across experiences like The Final Station that leave you grasping at straws in a good way. Do My Best Games has done a fantastic job at setting up a unique, mysterious world that teases you with tidbits of information as you ride the rails from town to town. Can you shuttle your passengers to safety as you flee the impending horrors?
The Final Station Review: A man with a train, on a mission amidst an active apocalypse. Can this simplistic indie idea become a gem?
Here we have a train simulator / zombie shooter, why not? The Final Station is certainly original: you play as a conductor in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies (which for some reason all look more like silhouettes than flesh-eaters).
The Final Station isn't a bad game, but it just doesn't do enough to draw me into its world and continue enjoying its decent gameplay and stark visual design.
