There's nothing about The Inner World that players can’t enjoy. The story is motivating, puzzles are fun solving, and characters are as lively as they can get. The intensity level of the game, however, is the only factor that can hold this game back. Due to the sluggish nature of point-and-click games, it’s easy for players to get diverted from the intensity of the story. Having said that, compared to all of the chapters, the end of the game feels rather shortened and contradicted. The intensity level bakes throughout the four chapters and suddenly delivers the unexpected in the finale. This l...

Set in a world and fascinating world brought to life with brilliant visuals, a fantastic soundtrack and wonderfully likeable characters, it’s a shame that The Inner World‘s controls on console are so awkward, as otherwise the game is perhaps one of the best examples of the point and click genre. I’m very glad I got to play it, and I’ll continue to be happy to see point and click games being ported to console, but I just hope more care is taken in creating an intuitive control system. I do heartily recommend The Inner World though – you’d just be better off playing it on PC if you have the opti...

I had a great time playing The Inner World and was sad to say goodbye to its wacky denizens, the cheeky humour and the fairytale world of Asposia. The transition from original PC game to PS4 is solid and I’m happy to say the controls and uncluttered menu system work as well as one could hope for on console (cue: sidelong glance at Deponia). If there is one weakness to the storytelling, it’s the somewhat predictable finale; it’s as if the participants had run out of air in the end … ahem. The Inner World does not try to reinvent the wheel, rather it sticks closely to the classic gamepla…

Point-and-click adventure games are rare to spot on consoles. The Inner World is a promising exception so get ready to dive into the depths of the Earth where a little chum is taking on bad guys and uncovering the mysteries of his flute-nose.

The Inner World has the heart of an adventure game, but its execution can only be likened to a dilettante’s exploration of the point-and-click genre. Asposia is an inventive world full of personality, but even despite the game’s goofy nature, the puzzle design is unfair, and frankly, indefensible. The game is a respectable dabbling in the genre, but when Robert’s adventure finally reaches its conclusion (and it will have you saying ‘finally’), don’t expect to feel like you accomplished much of anything at all.

Overall, while this game has a unique charm and an interesting world, the gameplay failed to make it a fond experience. For big fans of the genre, this might be worth picking up for a few hours’ entertainment, but it’s definitely not for everyone.
