The Jackbox Party Pack 7 Reviews

Professional reviews from gaming critics

With four great and unique party games and one okay one wrapped up in one stellar party pack, The Jackbox Party Pack 7 offers a fun, dynamic party experience with a few of the best new games in the franchise to date, like Talking Points and Blather 'Round. It also features the triumphant return of the stone-cold Jackbox classic in Quiplash 3. Given the strong individual parts, and especially in the current state of the world right now, Jackbox 7 is probably the best entry in the franchise yet. I've enjoyed older versions of Jackbox while reconnecting with friends over Discord or Zoom--or just ...

Overall, I thought this was a pretty solid Jackbox pack, if not one of my favorites. There were some issues with the Switch edition that I hope will be cleared up soon — not just with Champ’d Up, but it also took quite a while for some of the other games to connect. Otherwise this was a really solid mix of games, with much more thought put into the “personality” of each game (always love a good theme song).

The Jackbox Party Pack 7 might not be the best entry I’ve played, but it’s still a great collection of fun, innovative party games. The degree of customization and accessibility is fantastic. Sure, some technical issues might be plaguing the Switch version right now, but even with some speed bumps, the likes of Quiplash 3, The Devil and the Details, and Champ’d Up are likely to become new game night staples. Hopefully they won’t have to be on Discord and Zoom for the rest of time.

Three great games — plus two potentially great games when played in person — equals one seriously strong chapter of a very polished franchise. Jackbox Party Pack 7 really does have something for everyone.

The Jackbox Party Pack 7 samples some of the past with Quiplash 3 while managing to revolutionize previous concepts with new twists breathing fresh air into their games. This more diverse collection might not have everything you want, but it likely has something for everyone.

The Jackbox Party Pack 7 is a winner of a collection, but it's not the blowaway compilation that past ones have been. Quiplash 3 is an easy winner, mainly because it adds to an already successful formula. Blather 'Round's biggest weaknesses are a lack of a strong final punch and its limitation to six players. Champ'd Up and Talking Points are games that need a very specific set of players to have fun, which is a stark difference from many of Jackbox's previous offerings that carry a more universal appeal. The Devil and the Details is another game that mainly works with a specific set of player...

We're currently in a pandemic but screw that noise; invite all your friends over and get ready to play some underwhelming party games.

In its favour, The Jackbox Party Pack 7 is presented as nicely as any Jackbox game always is, and it remains as easy as ever to play with friends. But when six better games in the series exist, this one’s a hard sell. You can play Quiplash elsewhere, making Blather Round the only worthwhile title – but I’m not sure it’s worth buying the entire game for.
