It’s been a journey to reach this moment, and part of me still can’t believe we’ve made it. Seven years ago, Total War was in a rut. Following a string of underwhelming releases, the franchise was sinking, and Creative Assembly seemingly worn out. Then came the announcement that they would be hinging their entire future on a licensed fantasy game, a first for the franchise. While the idea seemed promising, most were skeptical at best of what the CA we knew could do. Then Total War: Warh...
The more I play Total War: Warhammer III, the more I like and the renewed focus on having a story. There is a bit of dislike there, but not in equal measures. A story-focused approach to Total War has never failed; either it's been solid and successful, or it's ever-so-slightly veered off the mark but managed to land in the vicinity. The strong story-focused titles include Total War: Three Kingdoms (Romance mode), Total War Saga: Troy, and Total War: Warhammer II. The weaker one, singular, is Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia.
While it does have some notable flaws, namely a somewhat messier campaign progression, Total War: Warhammer III still manages to impress. With multiple factions and legendary lords to choose from, along with a plethora of improvements to existing mechanics, you're bound to have one hell of a good time.
Almost perfect if not for the nitty-gritty. If it’s quite there but not enough to push the boundaries, it’s still an awesome game.
Another solid entry into the franchise in what should be the exciting conclusion of the trilogy. Blood for the Blood God and all that good stuff!
Five years. That's how long we waited for Total War: Warhammer 3. Creative Assembly have taken much more time with the development than anyone anticipated. This time was not squandered.

Pairing the tactical brilliance of the Total War series with the rich lore of the Warhammer universe is a natural fit, and Total War: Warhammer 2 fulfills the promise of that combination. It is a deep and challenging experience with an epic story to tell. It is also one of the most overwrought games of the year, a game where complexity seems to be piled on for complexity’s sake. That is a feature, however, and not a bug. The tone and pace of Total War: Warhammer 2 matches its lore. The density of the whole package can make it all feel like a chore at times, but that’s also what makes it such a...
