Professional reviews from gaming critics
Of course, these games are of minimal value to those without twitch reflexes and an aptitude for prediction or pattern memorisation. It’s no wonder that this subgenre is petite where sales figures are concerned and hasn’t seen a huge commercial following outside Japan. That high skill ceiling doesn’t mean these games have to be content resting on their laurels instalment after instalment, however. Touhou Genso Rondo: Bullet Ballet is a great introduction to the Touhou universe and an excellent way to spend time playing with friends. The simple controls make it easy for new players to pick up and have a good time, but it also caters to the more hardcore fanbase by adding a deep learning curve to each character. Don't let the fact that this is a fan-made game make you think it's lacking in content. Genso Rondo makes it's mark on the Touhou universe. While paying homage to the official works that came before it, the game provides a new and exciting approach to the fighting game genre.
You don't often see games that combine the excitement of a shoot 'em up with the intimate battles of a fighting game. So, let's find out how Touhou Genso Rondo's genre-blending formula fares in the ring.

Touhou Genso Rondo: Bullet Ballet is a game that I didn’t realise I wanted to play. Now that I know it exists, however, I’m glad that I had the opportunity to experience it. Blending genres to create something unique and truly special, Bullet Ballet is frantic and a heck of a lot of fun. Sure, its story mode is remarkably bland, and the game could likely benefit from an additional mode or two, but the solid shoot ’em up gameplay is what will inevitably bring you back for just one more match.
