Professional reviews from gaming critics
Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. keeps the AM2 crafted experience as smooth as it can possibly be while bringing in a few welcome changes to base game. With Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. being at its core a simpler game to get into in terms of no frill mechanics, there is the deeper need for understanding the technicality, which in turn intensifies the challenge. Despite all the improvements brought in from 2022’s Ultimate Showdown, some of the nuances are still lingering such as the weekly tournament. R.E.V.O. does bring new updates to the table in finding a way to bring the fighter back to PC since Vir...
Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. isn’t a revolutionary overhaul, but it refines an already exceptional fighter with sharper visuals, rollback netcode, and improved combat. While these enhancements make for a smoother and more competitive experience, especially online, some players may be disappointed by the lack of new game modes. That said, this remains one of the finest 3D fighters ever made, standing as both a tribute to its legacy and a reminder of what awaits the series’ future. At its budget price, it’s an easy recommendation for both newcomers and veterans.

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O is a faithful port of Ultimate Showdown 2.0 and is a great experience while allowing players like me to study and re-learn old techniques.
It’s hard to believe that Virtua Fighter 5 is still the latest entry in the ultra mega legendary fighting franchise… and it’s still going to turn 19 this year. Yes. Virtua Fighter 5 came out during the freaking Bush administration. It was groundbreaking for its time, being one of the true “next-gen” fighting games back when “next-gen” meant “it looks like an Xbox 360 game”. But oddly enough, it has never exactly disappeared. Between some revamped PC versions, Xbox backwards ...

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. has a solid combat system, marred by poor netcode in a primarily online game. It does run well on Steam Deck though.
Virtua Fighter 5 was first released in 2007 on consoles and has received various updated versions as time went on in the form of Virtua Fighter 5 R and Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown. But now it has finally come to PC players with its newest version, titled Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. for a whole new generation of PC players to experience the game. For the 30th anniversary of the series, SEGA has released this new version to give fans another version of this classic game while they wait for the newest entry to make its debut.
