Wizordum is a refreshing entry in the pixel FPS genre. It pays clear homage to legendary titles while offering unique, subtle features that make it new. The gameplay is familiar, fast, and engaging. Its presentation pops, and the visual storytelling, coupled with its plethora of puzzles, keeps you engrossed in the experience. Wizordum is a nostalgic throwback that still feels new and exciting to play. It’s a great step into high fantasy while being true to its inspirations.
Tons of exploration and adventure await across three episodes, the last of which ending with a challenging onslaught of enemies and obstacles. Wizordum doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it is a competent and well-made retro shooter with tight, spell-based gunplay.
Your overall enjoyment of Wizordum will depend heavily on what you’re looking for. It doesn’t do much to separate itself from other shooters of this style. It feels very much like a middle ground between Wolfenstein and Heretic. It does that very well and is fun to play, but I would have liked to see it bring in a few more unique ideas. Progression also feels a little flat. Each individual level is well made but I rarely felt like they were getting harder or more complex as I went. This is a solid and well made first-person-shooter, if not a revolutionary one.

It’s an odd feeling when playing Wizordrum, because it’s not a bad game at all – in fact, it’s a pretty decent retro-styled FPS. It just so happens that it tried to convey the look, feel and gameplay of...
Level Editors are the best thing FPS game developers can give their players. From playing around with the Build engine to modding Half-Life, from TimeSplitters' MapMaker to DOOM 2016's custom multiplayer levels, allowing players access to development tools and letting them see what they can create themselves has long been a feature worth championing. The Level Editor in Wizordum is fantastic, and allows for some truly massive and intricate designs. There are still some issues that are being worked out - during the period of review, a much-appreciated patch was issued that, among other things, ...
Wizordum is a fun game to tear up and explore. Its weapons are unique and even shoot from different parts of the camera, making some better for shooting around corners than others. The checklist is challenging, par times really make you rush. The music is charming and fitting for the theme. I am excited to see the finished project.
