Professional reviews from gaming critics
Not long ago, the Dirt Rally series used to be the Ferrari of rallying games, while WRC was trailing behind like a Ford Pinto with a flat tire. The way the developers at Kylotonn have managed to constantly improve this once maligned series into a well-respected and super polished racing franchise is downright heroic. It’s all thanks to a steady amount of upgrades scattered through the years, be it with the amount of content included in these games, to their valiant effort to make a newcomer...
Bringing back all of the modes from last year’s WRC 9, including the unique co-driver mode, while adding a new Anniversary Mode and some welcome new features, WRC 10 is the biggest entry in the series yet. It can be punishing at times, perhaps overly so, but it’s hard not to be impressed by the game’s authenticity. Racing through stages is always exhilarating, thanks largely to the impressive visuals and reliable physics model. And whether you want to sink your teeth into a meaty career or dive in for a quick challenge, there’s a mode for you. There’s still a little room for improvement, but W...
While not a monumental upgrade over past installments, WRC 10 makes some welcome changes to the formula that continue to make it a must-play for fans of the sport.
Developer KT Racing has found its footing with the WRC series. After last year's WRC 9 made significant improvements to the officially licensed rally racer, WRC 10 iterates on the winning formula, presenting another fantastic experience — even if it is a little rough around the edges.
Another autumn is upon us, and thus another WRC game has been unleashed. Last year’s WRC 9 was a solid release, but has developer Kylotonn managed to squeeze in enough new and exciting features to warrant a purchase? Find out in our WRC 10 PS5 review.
WRC 10 is a great rally package that hones many of the WRC 9's strengths to a finer edge. There’s a couple of visual glitches that need working on, but all in all, rally fans will love what KT Racing have put together this year.
If you’ve yet to play a WRC game, especially in the past few years, you’re in for a world of hurt with WRC 10. It’s fantastic – don’t get me wrong. But it’s also one of the most challenging games I’ve played in a long, long time. There’s a reason KT Racing’s rally championship series has earned the moniker of the “Dark Souls of racing games,’ and WRC 10 feels eager to maintain that title. This one is not for the faint of heart and will test the mettle of even the most confident drivers.
In short, Nacon’s WRC 10 improves on the already solid rallying formula of last year’s game, delivering a fun and exciting driving model, many cars and events across decades of the sport, and a very open-ended career mode. The general presentation remains fairly dated, however, and the lack of depth and event variety don’t allow it to compete with titles such as the DIRT franchise, which offers even derivates of rally such as rallycross or gymkhana. It’s a fun and respectful title that deserves to hold the WRC license, but there are still things to iron out.
WRC 10 is a hardcore racer that'll require you to put in the time before reaping any of its rewards.
