Spec Ops: The Line
If you’re into shooters then Spec Ops: The Line should be at the top of your list. It blends a brilliant story with strong characters and gameplay mechanics that rival much more established franchises. Yes the difficulty spikes can be a grind, but push on through and you’ll find one...
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13
EA has plenty of experience at iterating on its huge sports games and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 is indicative of that experience. It seems to add just enough to make it worthwhile for owners of last year’s game, while still feeling very familiar. The Pins, Country Clubs and Legacy...
Payday: The Heist
If you have a small group of friends with whom you usually buddy up to play shooters, PayDay is definitely worth looking into. Despite only having six playable missions, there’s a ton of depth when you consider the titanic ranking system and numerous difficulty settings. On the flipside, if you’re...
Saints Row: The Third
Saints Row: The Third has no pretence. It’s a hugely enjoyable videogame and seems happy just being that. And so it should be. There are no heavy plots to become embroiled in, each mission is essentially just a method of throwing you into another zany situation and then rewarding you...
Paper Mario 3D Land
Super Mario 3D Land is in no huge way the most innovative thing you’ll play. It won’t grip you with its story, and it certainly won’t convert those who have little to no interest in Mario games. What it will do, however, is delight fans with its combination of fantastically...
Whether or not you should buy this game so soon after the release of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is different story. If you missed out on the original back in February then this game is a no-brainer. Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 feels more like a complete product with more...
Assassin’s Creed is a series that deserves to live as long as possible if Ubisoft are releasing games of this calibre year after year; Revelations is a brilliant entry into the series and brings so much to the table that it beats not only the other games in the series,...
Halo deserves all the acclaim it gets, even today. It’s hard to explain exactly why it’s so revered, but I just tend to think of it like this: no other FPS had me glued to it not just for the first time through, but the fifth. I don’t think everything...
Football Manager 2012
Football Manager 2012 looks set to be another year-long love affair for me. There is nothing else even remotely as good in this genre and if you have the time to put in and the desire to keep playing, it gives you more hours of play than anything else you’re...
Disney Universe
This leads to much hilarity as you “accidently” whack one of your friends so they miss a collectible, or pick them up and chuck them off a ledge (although that one is harder to explain away). It gets a bit frantic at times, but there is so much fun to...
DC Universe Online
With your character ready the first mission you’re set to escape from Brainiac’s ship and rally with either Superman or Lex Luthor. Whilst it feels like a canned sequence it does a good job of going through basics including combat, navigation and upgrading your abilities. Unfortunately for players who love...
