Nioh 3

Nioh 3 takes clear cues from Elden Ring, offering multiple sizeable open-world regions to explore and challenging enemy encounters aplenty. Its bosses aren’t particularly memorable, but the deep combat gives you a myriad of ways to approach each confrontation. It’s an impressively large action-RPG that I can’t stop playing.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond delivers an excellent 3D Metroid experience that’s even better on Switch 2. The game’s graphics are a sight to behold throughout, but really shine in its dungeons, where the attention to detail and intricate level design keep you hooked. While the new overworld that connects them feels somewhat barren at times, traversing it via motorcycle helps break up the more slow-paced exploration of its dungeons. However, having to traverse an entire desert to install an upgrade can often feel tedious. Still, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is a sight to behold that nails the core gameplay and combat of a 3D Metroid game.

Black Ops 7 is a great Call of Duty game. However, I have a hard time recommending it to anyone who isn't eager for more of the same COD we've been playing for decades. New players and lapsed fans will probably not find this game worth their time.

Is Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2 a worthy successor to the first game? Yes and no. It is an interesting game with many good features, but it is also riddled with problems and strange gameplay solutions.

Ninja Gaiden 4 features the brutally challenging combat the series is known for. Though its story and level design aren't memorable, its superb gameplay makes up for any shortcomings. This is the return to form we've wanted.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A flips everything I thought I knew about Pokémon battles on its head, putting a fresh spin on the nearly 30-year-old series. Spicing up its challenging new real-time battle system is the return of fan-favorite mega evolutions, which give every battle a subtle tinge of excitement. However, its stealth mechanics leave a lot to be desired, and the lack of voice acting still makes for rather off-putting story beats and cutscenes.

EA Sports FC 26 promised to address long-standing fan feedback, and to its credit, several key areas are refreshed. The new gameplay presets border on game-changing, and the franchise’s impressive authenticity remains unrivalled in the sports video game scene. Sadly, FUT rewards extra player spending more than ever, and the menu design is awful.

Ghost of Yotei is another high-quality and seriously cinematic PS5 exclusive. It offers few new ideas compared to its predecessor, and the segmented nature of its main campaign makes the story feel repetitive. However, what it lacks in originality it makes up for with brilliantly brutal combat, a sizeable open-world stuffed with distractions and stunning visuals, especially on PS5 Pro.

There are a few things holding Borderlands 4 back from being a must-play for everyone, but for longtime fans of the series, it ticks all the right boxes and makes shooting enemies to get loot as joyous an experience as it ever has been.

Silent Hill f is a true-to-form return for the franchise. It features a tantalizing story and world that offers a frightening introspection on the nature of sanity. The series' inherent psychological nature is ever-present, and it's made more impactful with refinements to stamina and health. Unfortunately, combat can still feel slightly janky. Despite its flaws, this is exactly what Silent Hill is all about.
