Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker succeeds in its most important mandate from the fans: delivering a proper and satisfying ending to the Hydaelyn and Zodiarc saga.
Overall, Battlefield 2042 is an excellent effort and filled with a ton of competitive multiplayer content at launch with much more planned in the near future. There are some technical issues such as respawns and visual bugs to sort out, and some game modes and specialists might need some tweaks, but DICE is off to a great start and Battlefield 2042 should likely be relevant and popular for years to come.
Psychonauts 2's top-notch writing and storytelling combined with its colorful and wacky worlds to explore makes it one of the best platformers to come out since, well, the original game!
Madden 22 is a lot more of the same, but some improvements and updates to freshen things up makes this an objectively better game than last year's edition.
Cris Tales would have been better off leaning into Crisabell's time powers more. It's a really neat idea that should have been beaten over the player's heads far more than it was. Instead, Cris Tales pulls its punches for some reason and the whole mechanic ends up feeling half-baked.
The pressure will be on for next year's edition, but MLB The Show 21 does just barely get over the hump when it comes to feeling like a worthwhile upgrade.
Outriders is able to crack into the crowded looter-shooter genre, carve out a niche all while telling an entertaining story. Its character-building is top notch, its PvE gameplay is challenging and rewarding, and despite not being a live-service game, comes complete with end-game content that is more robust than most games that are trying to be live-service.
There will be work to do to ensure that Beyond Light's content remains interesting for an entire year and that Stasis is kept in check, but overall Destiny 2: Beyond Light is a solid effort from Bungie and is a worthwhile expansion to pick up for anyone that enjoys the series.
Ultimately, while there's certainly areas for improvements and avenues for Spellbreak to stand out even more from the battle royale crowd, developer Proletariat Games has put together a very commendable first effort and have put Spellbreak in a great spot early on.
Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath adds to an already incredible story experience. If story isn't your jam though, then it might be hard to find value.
