PGA Tour 2K25 is the latest golfing title on the market. As an avid golfer and gamer, I’ve spent countless hours on the virtual links. From nostalgic sessions with PGA Tour Golf on my Mega Drive to the latest iterations on modern consoles, I’ve witnessed the evolution of golf games firsthand. With a legacy spanning multiple generations and platforms, it’s natural to wonder: how much has really changed? After all, the world’s most famous courses remain largely the same, and the fundame...

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers! I guarantee you that pretty much everyone who grew up in the 1990s knows the name and likely tried some martial arts on their friends at school. Given the franchise has also spawned 22 different TV series, three feature-length movies and 27 video games to its name it is highly unlikely that this franchise has passed under the radar of even those living under a rock.

According to Sheffield-based developers Steel City Interactive, Undisputed is the first major boxing video game released in over a decade. At first thought, this felt like a dubious claim, but a quick Google search later and it turns out they are right. My, how time flies since the days of Ready to Rumble and Knock Out Kings. Their stated aim was to create the most visceral and interactive boxing experience to date, and in all fairness, I think they have managed to achieve it.

EA Sports FC 25 is the latest annual entry for the series formerly known as FIFA. Despite the loss of the FIFA license a few years ago, the series is still going strong featuring a plethora of gameplay options and content. It features teams and leagues from all over the world, obligatory online match-ups as well as fully fleshed-out player career and manager modes.

Riven
8.5

The original Riven (1997) was an epic follow-up to the seminal early 90’s point-and-click adventure game Myst. Shipping on no less than five compact discs back in the day it was a massive release, and turned out to be one of the most highly anticipated and biggest-selling games of the year.

Penny’s Big Breakaway, is developed by Evening Star and published by Private Division. Evening Star was formed by fellow Melbournian Christian Whitehead, perhaps best known for his mobile ports of classic Sonic The Hedgehog titles, or his contribution and the use of his ‘Retro Engine’ for Sonic Mania. In fact, at one point his studio was being considered for the development of SEGA’s Sonic Superstars.

House Flipper 2 is the aptly named follow-up to 2018’s House Flipper, developed in Poland by Red Dot Games, Empyrean Games and published by Frozen District. Development for the sequel started all the way back in 2020 and the size of the development team has more than doubled compared to the first game. House Flipper 2 is built from a new code base, meaning this one has got the full flip treatment itself and is brand spanking new from the ground up.

EA Sports WRC is developed by racing game (and Rally game) specialists Codemasters. This marks the first time they have been in control of the official World Rally Championship license in donkey’s years. This one started development as the sequel to the sublime Dirt Rally 2.0 which in my view is probably the best Rally game ever made. It also marks a switch from their custom engine EGO over to Unreal.

The Forza Motorsport Series has always been the flagship racer on Xbox. It is their answer to PlayStation’s long-running Gran Turismo series and carries a storied history of quality, enjoyable titles. For the past few years though, the spotlight has been on the excellent open-world variant Forza Horizon. While we have received two entries in the Horizon series over the past few years, the last proper, on-track, Forza was all the way back in 2017.

The first Gran Turismo title debuted in 1997, almost 25 years ago. It was the first game of its kind on home consoles. From humble beginnings with Motor Toon Grand Prix in 1994, Polyphony Digital, with Kazunori Yamauchi at the helm, built an empire. They used their obsessive attention to detail and love of cars to ensure that Gran Turismo is the undisputed yardstick when it comes to visual fidelity and near simulation-style racing on PlayStation.
