Playing House Flipper 2 often requires precise placements and movements, and using the controller can be a bit of a frustration at times. The PC version also includes controller support, so this is not a new way of playing, and there are settings to adjust the controller sensitivity, as well as different options for "snap to grid" or "precise placement." Unfortunately, these don't quite solve the problem of it being incredibly difficult to place things in the same way as one would with a mouse.

Though I could use a bit more hand-holding, with endless options for style and gameplay, House Flipper 2 stands to be one of the best building sims I’ve tried. If some of the controller and grid issues are addressed on Xbox, it will be something truly remarkable.

The music isn’t memorable nor is it ever in the way.  It’s a game I routinely had the sound turned down for as it was my go-to chill out as I listened to The Dollop or watched a Jaboody stream, title.  It’s pleasant sounding musak that fits the vibe.  I ran into no bugs, with my only issue being a lack of precision when using a controller.

The original House Flipper was released more than five years ago on Steam, and was one of the most interesting success stories of that year. In theory, it should have been a flop: it was completely comprised of premade store assets, it was made on a tight budget by an unknown team, it had little to no pre-launch promotion, and it was glitchy as hell. Despite the limited content and somewhat fiddly controls, the game feels great to play. It's endlessly satisfying to turn a neglected garbage heap back into a happy home. The sandbox mode in House Flipper 2 offers lots of creative opportunities and the ability to share with fellow flippers is a big bonus, and will hopefully help the game build an ongoing community. Fingers crossed that more content comes down the road to provide players with even more possibilities.

House Flipper 2 is a wonderful house-management game that deserves a far better console port than the one it got. Based purely on the content of the game itself, impressive sandbox offerings and relaxing gameplay come together to make an umatched experience on those merits. While I encountered a few bugs and a little bit of jankiness as I made my way through the game, I consider it to be an acceptable trade-off when it comes to being so engaged and delighted by something I waited so long to play. Empyrean has earned my loyalty in the past with tons of community-driven improvements and DLC that expands the base game in a very compelling way. I have no doubt in my mind that this is yet another game that the development team will quietly build upon for years to come, ensuring that I will always return to Pinnacove.
