Age of Mythology: Retold is a successful attempt at reviving a classic title with a modern look and better accessibility. With three fascinating campaigns and a smooth multiplayer experience, it can be the perfect game for fans of old school RTS games who are yearning for a fresh experience.

If you haven’t had the chance to play Age of Mythology before, or you’re a fan who’s played the original for hundreds of hours, Age of Mythology: Retold offers the perfect opportunity to jump into the game.

Following on from the excellent Age of Empires remasters, World’s Edge is bringing back Age of Mythology, with all-new art, features, and content to give it a polish for the modern generation.

Age of Mythology was already a respectable package and Retold adds some additional shine. Like other Age games, it’s got near-endless replay value and is packed to the brim with gameplay and lore (even if some content is locked at release). A faithful remaster of a classic RTS game with many enhancements that improve on an already great game.

Age of Mythology: Retold is a great remake of the 2002 classic with amazing gameplay additions and enough modern systems to feel friendly toward newcomers. While the lack of new content at launch weakens the game a bit, the RTS greatness sure makes up for it.

I think you won’t be disappointed. If they can fix some of the AI problems and balance issues in future patches, Age of Mythology can truly stand among its peers. It might even become the true fan favorite it was always destined to be. Maybe we should ask the gods for their favor and start praying.

Age of Mythology: Retold is up there with the best RTS remakes thanks to its faithfulness to the original, myriad UI and aesthetic updates, and smart decision to leave AoM's enjoyable idiosyncrasies intact.

Age of Mythology: Retold is brimming with contrasts, and yet the game's most important asset, the combat and myth units, aren't as interesting or exciting past their legendary visages.

Age of Mythology Retold is fun, don’t get me wrong. The visual overhaul alone is enough to make playing this 22-year-old game easier, and the quality-of-life improvements sand down some of the older versions’ more annoying edges.
