Michael Thorton might not have succeeded in his mission to break sales records, but at least he saved the world. If you've ever wanted to be a spy, you should check this out.

Alpha Protocol is exactly what I expected fourteen years later. It’s held back by low textured environments and wonky combat, but excels at world building and dialogue. In fact, it may be ahead of some other games' dialogue systems even now. There just isn’t a game out there like Alpha Protocol, with its espionage RPG idea that really should be revisited.

Obsidian's Alpha Protocol offers an original setting and the power of choice. It's a game where you decide the fate of a majority of the cast, giving you the sense that the story is guided as much by you as it is by the designers. With a number of ways to customize the experience – you can play as a stealth agent with a silenced pistol or bullet-spraying berserker – it initially seems like everything should be in place for an entertaining role-playing experience. Each glimmer of hope that you see through the cracked venir of graphical glitches and all to regular system crashes will spur you to play your ...

Graphics are good though I would suggest turning off the motion blur from the options. Sound is great and it is needed to hear Gard's coming and spy on conversations. There are plenty of gadgets to find and buy based on your contacts. The game has a perk system like New Vegas but they are earned through actions and would be spoiling if I told you.

Cult games are a weird phenomenon in the games industry. It’s that breed of game that won’t necessarily sell amazingly well or even score highly in terms of a Metacritic score, but they’re games that offer something so fresh and so original, that they will no doubt have their devout followers. Mirror’s Edge, the Hitman series and Crackdown are all fine examples of what I like to define as cult games. What does this have to do with Alpha Protocol you ask? Well, because I hereby proclai...
