Communication is one of the most important aspects of civilization. It’s the foundation for how well we thrive as a community and as a species as a whole. Without the ability to understand one another, miscommunications can lead to tension, mistrust, and the inability to coordinate necessary tasks. That is to say that lack of proper communication can lead to war and hinder our basic abilities to survive. This is a concept that is fully explored in Chants of Sennaar.

Chants of Sennaar and the way it explores the relations between different groups of people is really engaging as a game. With language at its core, it highlights both the differences and the similarities between people and cultures. Chants of Sennaar is a puzzle game that deserves attention.

Chants of Sennaar is defined by its peaks as its valleys. For every moment of mind-blowing, brilliant puzzle design comes an inversely frustrating moment stymied by '90s adventure game logic. The game's ability to teach a player aspects of a language is awe-inspiring, and its way of guiding players along with as little information as possible is intensely rewarding—when it works. Unique in its art style and its approach to gameplay, Chants of Sennaar filled with captivating puzzles that are a joy to solve, set against a backdrop of a world that you’ll be desperate to learn more of. Figuring out the meaning of each glyph is supremely satisfying, but also is solving the game’s wealth of other puzzles. Even a generous helping of stealth is not enough to dampen our enjoyment of this special game.
