Clock Tower: Rewind Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
If you're interested in the history of the survival horror genre, this is an absolute must-play for you. If you're looking for a new survival horror game to play, then just be aware that this is an old game and feels accordingly. That doesn't have to be a bad thing, but I fear for many it will be.
Clock Tower: Rewind features some QoL features but is mostly the same game it was in 1995. That is far from a bad thing however thanks to how atmospheric and tense it is throughout multiple runs.
Clock Tower Rewind brings the cult classic horror game to western shores for the first time with some added convenience features and bonuses to boot. However, the game's intrinsic point and click adventure game DNA feels outdated and flawed. If you don't mind using a guide to help in your pixel hunt and solve archaic solutions, this remaster of one of the most influential horror games of the 90s comes recommended.
Clock Tower: Rewind is the resurrection of the 1995 Super Famicom game, Clock Tower, officially translated and released outside of Japan for the first time. Featuring the original graphics, sound, and gameplay of the classic release, the groundbreaking title challenges players to escape the terrifying Barrows family manor, where they’ll be pursued by the relentless, murderous, shears-wielding Scissorman. PS4 version reviewed. Review copy provided by company for testing purposes.

A loving tribute to one of the grandaddies of survival horror and while the game feels random and abstruse compared to modern titles it’s still entertaining and surprisingly scary.
Clock Tower is one of those horror franchises a lot of people have, at the very least, a modicum of knowledge about, but very few of them have actually played any entry in its nearly thirty year old history. Given how the original version was released only in Japan, and its further sequels had sold and reviewed quite poorly, I wouldn’t blame them if most people had only learned about it because of that one Jontron video from a decade ago. Clock Tower: Rewind is actually the first time the f...
