Crysis Remastered Trilogy Reviews

Professional reviews from gaming critics

Here at WayTooManyGames, we very rarely decide to tackle two versions of the same game released at the same time, but there’s always an exception to the rule. The novelty of Crysis Remastered Trilogy being available on the Nintendo Switch on the same day as the more obvious PS4 and Xbox One ports just made me want to take a look at that specific version while our own Kyle was cruising with his nanosuit on the Xbox One X. Having one Crysis on the Switch was already a crazy idea, but all thre...

The Crysis Remastered Trilogy arrives on Switch in a fantastic set of ports that deliver the full-fat super soldier experience with very little in the way of stutters, bugs or other technical failings. If you're picking this one up as a complete set, you've got a ton of excellent shooter action to blaze your way through in a trilogy of games that's aged remarkably well over the years and looks and plays great on Nintendo's hybrid console. Individually, however, things get a little more complicated, with the first two games easy recommendations, whilst number three is a little on the short side...

The year 2007 was a fantastic time for gamers. Valve had released The Orange Box, which included Gordon Freeman’s latest exploits in the Half-Life franchise, as well as the unexpected smash hit Portal. This was also the same year Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (or just Modern Warfare before Modern Warfare) was dropped. Not to be left out of the party was Crytek, who finished work on their beautiful masterpiece known as Crysis. 14 years later, we now have a remastering of not one, but three Crysis titles in one bundle. Have these games aged gracefully? Time to find out in our Crysis Remastered ...

You can finally play Crysis (all of them) well, which is actually pretty great.

The series may no longer be the graphical tour de force it once was, but all three Crysis games remain highly playable, your nanosuit’s suite of powers adding a distinct twist to the shooter action.

The full Crysis Remastered Trilogy package will set you back $50 on PC and consoles. If you never played these games, only saw them running on ancient console hardware, or if your PC was never quite up to snuff, this is a great time to revisit some games that were ahead of their time in many ways, even to the point of detriment. Owners of PS5 or Series S|X consoles that enjoy shooters from time to time should put this on their shortlist. Just because these are ten-year-old games doesn't mean they look or play the part. Crysis 2 in particular gets the lion’s share of the attention and with its ...

The Crysis Remastered trilogy is an interesting, but inconsistent visual and gameplay package.

Crysis Remastered released last year to mostly disappointing reviews. While the game itself isn't that much better in this trilogy, what does come to life is the evolution of the game space across iterations. What was missing from Crysis Remastered is corrected in the Crysis Remastered Trilogy, and it's not gameplay or glitches, it's context. Context to understand that no matter how you re-texture an outdated game, it might look modern on a screenshot but it will still feel outdated with your hands at the controls. It does, however deserve its place in history, and this is an opportunity to bo...

A shiny time capsule housing six years of sci-fi shooter evolution. Performance-wise, the Switch is two for three, with the Crysis remaster struggling to keep up with the sequels. If you're in it for the visuals and not just the nostalgic flavors of the previous decade, then the remastered trilogy is best experienced on more powerful hardware.

Crysis Remastered Trilogy is one hell of a jam-packed experience. It contains all three of the legendary first-person shooters with the original being ground-breaking in its ultra-realistic graphics. Crysis was such a benchmark for graphics that when Crysis Remastered came out last year, the devs dubbed its highest graphic mode ‘Can it run Crysis’ giving a very heavy nod to the question every gamer was asking about PCs back when the original came out in 2007. Other than the sharp graphics...
