While not the most polished action game nor the deepest adventure game, Darksiders Warmastered Edition remains one of the most unique action-adventure games of its era.
The now defunct Vigil Games' epic hit from 2010 is finally available for Switch so get ready to tear up hordes of demons yet again.
A good remaster of a great game. If you’re into hacking demons and/or angels to bits, Zelda-style puzzles or both, Darksiders: Warmastered Edition will no doubt satisfy you.
Just when you thought the Wii U has had its last hurrah, along comes Darksiders: Warmastered Edition. As an HD-enhanced port of the 2010 original, the game has
When Heaven and Hell go to war, no one wins. Come see if the end of the world is all it’s cracked up to be in Darksiders: Warmastered Edition, the brainchild of famed comic book writer and artist, Joe Madureira. We take look and see if this six-year-old game holds with a visual facelift.
There’s been no shortage of great games this year, but Darksiders: Warmastered Edition still holds up exceptionally well, and it’s easy to recommend. It’s not quite as fresh and exciting as it was in 2010, but I still think it’s something everyone should try out. If you’ve played it before, it’s worth revisiting. If you haven’t, it’s a solid adventure that’s well worth your time. The budget price makes it a great value, with a campaign that will take most people between 12 to 20 hours to complete. I’m glad to see that THQ Nordic seems interested in keeping the series in the public eye, and I hope this means that the Darksiders franchise will be resurrected. I look forward to seeing how Pestilence and Famine will play in Darksiders 3 and 4.
A commendable remaster at a decent price point, Darksiders Warmastered gives those who missed out another chance to try an underappreciated gem of the PS3 era. Just prepare for some mechanical rust.
Slay every demon in your way to prove your innocence. Ride along with one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse in the original Darksiders that was released 6 years later.
It's weird to think that since Darksiders was released in 2010, Vigil Games disbanded, THQ went bankrupt, and Nordic Games acquired the franchise. Not only that, but it has even reincorporated under the name THQ Nordic and overseen remasterings of both games. So while ex-Vigil Games employees are scattered around the place with Darksiders lead creator Joe Madureira doing his own thing with Battle Chasers: Nightwar, THQ Nordic has been feeling the waters to discern if completing the Darksiders trinity can make waves.
On the whole, whilst Darksiders: Warmastered Edition has its issues, I feel that it is a decent port of a very good game. Its graphics may look a little dated, and performance does unfortunately decline as you approach its end, but for £14.99 it provides an enjoyably compelling 15 plus hour adventure full of fast-paced combat and brain teasing puzzles that is easy to recommend. Fans of God of War and Zelda in particular will certainly find a lot to like about it.
