Dragon Quest VII Reimagined successfully amputates the original's legendary bloat, offering a brisk, orchestrated delight.
Ultimately, what matters in Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined is the journey. Every character you meet, every party member you recruit, has a tale you want to experience. With reworked combat and vocations, a stellar party, and dozens of memorable locations in need of help, Reimagined is one of the finest games in the series.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is a solid remake and a delightful turn-based RPG for fans of the genre. Despite some tedium and long-winded pacing, the individual story vignettes will have you coming back for more.
Another home run for the series, fans of old-school JRPGs will absolutely love Dragon Quest VII Reimagined.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined rectifies one of the slower entries into the long-running series with a next-gen coat of paint and pacing to match the sensibilities of contemporary JRPG enthusiasts.
DQ7 Reimagined takes all the things that worked in the original release and turns them into a fantastic package
The only downside to Reimagined is how much hand-holding it has. Dragon Quest 7: Reimagined is easily recommended for JRPG fans, though everyone else may want to approach with caution. The drawn-out storyline keeps you playing but doesn't quite convince you of the game's greatness, which could be a turnoff for gamers who aren't happy grinding their way through side stories.
Story and Gameplay Dragon Quest VII Reimagined takes the dense, time-hopping odyssey of the original PSX game and gives it a welcome coat of modern accessibility. Gone is the molasses pacing and “where the heck do I go” moments of the past—in its place are streamlined quest markers, improved pacing
