A new and refreshing take on the survival horror genre that pays homage to various cult classics.
Hollowbody is a terrifying old school horror adventure with a strong, compelling storyline. It also runs great on the Steam Deck!
Hollowbody is a brilliant tribute to horror games released over the past thirty years. Despite some small glitches, a short runtime, and a gameplay/story that doesn't quite reach its full potential, the game manages to create a modernized spin on the survival horror genre with smooth gameplay, a horrifying atmosphere, and a premise that is likely to draw any longtime horror fans into its rich and terrifying world.
A fun blast from the past in a PS2 horror inspired trip through a nightmarish land with tons of interesting turns and a fair amount of challenge. It's well worth a play if you're a fan of anything scary.
Inspired by Silent Hill, Hollowbody will feel familiar to anyone that has played an entry in Konami's celebrated horror series. In any case, this is a seriously unsettling survival horror game with some fun puzzles, and its unique setting makes it feel somewhat fresh.
Hollowbody straddles the line between Silent Hill homage and clone, but more often than not, it's a nostalgic and creepy success.
At a glance, it’s clear that Silent Hill and Resident Evil were major influences on indie horror game Hollowbody. While its retro PS2-style visuals are what initially drew me toward the game, inside of that is a competent survival horror experience that, while not doing too many things different from its predecessors, establishes a world and setting that’s worth exploring. If you’re looking for a game to scratch the itch of those classic survival horror experiences, Hollowbody is definitely worth your time.
While Hollowbody is a beautifully designed survival horror game visual and audio-wise, its clunky controls and camera which has a mind of its own made it very frustrating to play.
A tech-noir survival horror short story, set in the urban decay of a long abandoned British city. Solve environmental puzzles, manage limited resources and fight for a way to escape beyond the wall.
The retro horror comeback has been one of my favourites in years. Not only do we have the recent re-releases of the classic Resident Evil titles. But we’ve had new games that take the best of old-school horror and bring in more modern sensibilities, may that be better control schemes, quality-of-life features, or just a straight-up visual upgrade.
Hollowbody offers an intriguing biopunk setting but fails to engage players due to clunky gameplay, underwhelming sound design, and the lack of a gripping story.
