Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered

Horizon Zero Dawn might not have needed a remaster, but Nixxes has put in some serious effort to bring this great game bang up to date and make full use of the capabilities of the PS5. And so, whether you're a fan wanting to jump in for another playthrough, or a newcomer to the series, it's a no-brainer.

If by dumb luck or some other unique set of circumstances you have yet to play Horizon Zero Dawn, then this is arguably by far the best way to experience one of the best open world efforts out there that still holds up extremely well even today. Perhaps most encouragingly, Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster also heralds the fact that Nixxes is a force to be reckoned in the console porting space too, representing an added feather in the cap for Sony and its burgeoning PlayStation Studios portfolio as we barrel towards the fourth anniversary of PlayStation 5.

The wait for Horizon 3, and honestly, a lot of PlayStation Studios titles is agonizing, especially four years into the PS5’s lifecycle. Horizon Zero Dawn isn’t that old of a game or in dire need of a remaster like those still trapped on PS3 hardware, but what Nixxes has managed to do with Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is simply breathtaking. By almost every metric, Horizon Zero Dawn is a classic action RPG. For anyone who missed it, the Remastered edition is definitely the version to pick up. For those who already own it, the upgrade to Remastered is a reasonable $10 and at least on PS5, PS4 cloud saves work just fine. If the new and improved visuals inspire folks to play the game, or play it again, that’s a win for everyone.

A worthy upgrade that brings it closer to the fidelity of its sequel, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is the best version of a great sci-fi RPG. Guerrilla Games and Nixxes Software have turned this remaster skeptic into a true believer.
