Professional reviews from gaming critics
All told, Mass Effect 3 is an absolutely amazing game, one that successfully puts a bow on the Mass Effect trilogy while still leaving us hungry for even more. It looks and plays great, but Mass Effect 3's true strength lies in its ability to tell a deeply-woven story. Better yet, the sheer ambition shown by BioWare in announcing an intersecting trilogy complete with save importation becomes fully realized in Mass Effect 3. BioWare deserves applause for not only having the courage to attempt something like the Mass Effect trilogy, but for pulling it off with such exceptional poise and skill.
With a Library approaching two hundred game titles on GameCube, Xbox, Xbox 360 and PS3 (and even a hand full on PC), to say I have played a number of games is a bit of an understatement. Of all the games I have played very few have captured my imagination in the way the Mass Effect Trilogy has. The story of Shepard’s personal struggle to save the universe from The Reapers or the Collectors is a narrative I have fully embraced. I painstakingly crafted the appearance of my “custom” Commander Shepard when I began the first Mass effect and I carried his “personality” to Mass Effect 2 unchanged....
Mass Effect 3 is all about the big payoff and no, we’re not talking about its controversial conclusion. Those who’re returning to BioWare’s sci-fi epic will have already invested many hours trawling the galaxy, zipping through mass relays, forming alliances with races from distant worlds and making difficult decisions that linger in the back of your mind as you ponder the repercussions. Before the game’s end you’ll see how the actions of your past panned out – some helping you in Earth’s time of need and others coming back to bite you in your shiny metal armoured backside. Regardless of the re...
But when all is said is done, the important thing here is Mass Effect 3 is the close to one of the most beloved new series in this current console generation.

Here we are then. Mass Effect 3 is finally upon us, and this is what it's all been building up to. The last hurrah for Commander Shepard and his faithful crew, as the Reapers threaten humanity and the rest of the galaxy. Suffice to say, BioWare has got its work cut out delivering with Mass Effect 3, as anything less than a heart-wrenching, dramatic and entirely satisfactory conclusion will do. The thing is, you've been working towards this ending with your previous actions, meaning that it's ...
The music in the game is arguably one of the best soundtracks you’ll in a game, capturing the emotional intensity of the Reaper invasion perfectly. If you don’t take a chance to stop and listen for a few minutes, you’ll be missing some of the finest scores that this industry has offered yet. Sounds from guns each feel unique and enemies have that satisfying crunch when they hit the ground or explode.
