It’s thanks to DualSense support and the other subtle improvements found here that Neon White is better than ever before on PS5. The speed-running nature of the game means it might not appeal or be suitable for everyone, but those who can hack it will be utterly enamoured with its charms. This is one seriously slick adventure, in terms of both gameplay and storytelling. And the more you put into it, the more you get out.
Neon White's story stumbles at times, but its slick, breakneck action is flawless and elevates it to be one of the year's best games.
Neon White isn't just a contender for the title of year's best action game, but also a fascinating blend of genres, all mixed together to create a truly unique delight. The stellar level design, swift platforming and gunplay, and the terrific challenge in figuring out the optimal demon extermination route work together in harmony to make it a true heavenly delight, all set to a soundtrack that won't be leaving the heads of players anytime soon. Neon White isn't just a speedrunner's delight, but a delight for any gamer in general, and it would be foolish to pass up something so sublime.
Neon White is overall a very good, even exceptional game, with addicting, thrilling, and wonderfully crafted gameplay. The characters are all incredibly endearing in their own way, even if the overall narrative doesn't break any molds. It's easily one of the best 3D platformers today, and one game from 2022 that is not to be missed.
Neon White is a welcome addition to the Xbox Game Pass library, serving up a unique and exhilarating indie experience. Its gameplay has a great sense of flow and it does a fantastic job depicting the afterlife. The game does have slower moments in-between levels, but it's primarily about speedrunning and perfecting your runs. As long as you can keep up, Heaven awaits.
Fashionably two years late to its own Xbox debut party, Neon White doesn't make as big of a splash as its original PC port and brings no noticeable gameplay or visual enhancements to the table. However, it remains a high-quality game, and its Day One inclusion in Xbox Game Pass still warrants giving it a try.
A sharp speedrunning shooter that'll probably scale with how much time you spent in Hot Topic.
If shoving Toonami and the Titanfall 2 Pilot’s Gauntlet into a blender and turning it to the highest speed sounds like a good time, then Neon White might be what you’re looking for. It’s a blood-pumping, speed-infused anime shooter with style and a decent bit of heart. While it’s short and sweet, Neon White gives just enough to get the player keen on shaving off seconds and fractions of seconds until they are, indeed, a speedrunning freak. For anyone who likes to go fast, that’s at least worth the price of admission.
A stylish and brilliantly designed blend of first person shooter and platformer, which nails the compelling and addictive chase for the perfect run.
With airtight controls, smooth speedrunning and a big helping of anime-inspired flair, few games can keep up with Neon White's pace.
