Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted is the definitive version of the original game, combining 2009’s PC version with content from the console and mobile releases. There's a glitchy zombie on your lawn

Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted is a worthy remaster of a classic, beloved game. When it was first announced, I was genuinely excited at the prospect of replaying this game. I imagine if you don’t have the same nostalgic feeling for Plants vs. Zombies, you might not share the same enthusiasm, but for fans, it’ll be nice to be back in the backyard. The updated visuals are crisp, but don’t expect anything too mind-blowing. I would have liked to see a deeper PvP mode, and the lack of any online mode might be a turn-off for some folks. The Co-Op mode is great and worth the price of admission alone. If you’re a fan of Plants vs. Zombies or looking to see what all the fuss is about, Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted is a great place to start.

I put a lot of stock in replay value. When I was a kid, my parents tolerated more than supported my love of video games, so I only got new titles for my birthday, Christmas, and during the weekends when we’d make trips to the video store. That meant replaying old games over and over, and learning to accept the flaws in the not-so-great games I received or rented because I was stuck with them.

Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted is the best way to play this seminal tower defense in 2025, but with so many cut corners, it leaves us wanting more.

We now have a remake of one of my favourite casual games of all time and this is one delectable treat for any strategy game fan.

If you've never played Plants vs. Zombies before, think of it like a cartoonish tower defense with a ton of style and charm. You play as the plants, and with the help of sunflowers (and other resource-generating plants later on), you'll pick up sun, which is used as a currency to create offensive and defensive plants. The team at PopCap managed to craft a wonderful, interactive onboarding experience, allowing even complete newcomers to the genre to pick it up in minutes.
