Stikbold! is a single and local multiplayer dodgeball game heavily inspired by the 70's and its athletes. Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Don’t be fooled by its colourful exterior; Stikbold! is capable of being a harsh and unforgiving game. For me, the difficulty level shot up out of nowhere when, at one point, I found myself playing against a whale and a bunch of activists. To be quite honest, that’s one of the few downsides I found, besides the art style that may not be to everyone’s tastes. Overall, Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure has a lot to offer. It’s incredibly fun thanks to its addictive gameplay and wholesome humour, and shouldn’t be missed. If I saw it on the store, it’s likely I would’ve scrolled by without a care. D...
There are 18 characters to unlock and customize, 6 arenas with varying game modes, and a whole lot of smiling to be done in Stikbold! Game Swing also makes a title called Midfall, described as a co-op wrestling adventure. There’s only a very little bit on their website so far, but I can’t wait to learn more. These four Danes are prized possessions in game development. Keep an eye on Game Swing, and play Stikbold!
If there's one sport that's underrepresented in gaming, it's dodgeball. Stikbold may not aim to reinvent the genre, but its wacky and simple gameplay is definitely worth taking a few balls to the face for.
Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure takes a sport that few get the opportunity to play anymore and infuses it with a more action oriented approach that surprisingly works quite well.
You can play through this with either a co-op buddy sat next to you or with an AI partner, and that’s an important dynamic. In co-op, you can pass between players to get a better angle of attack, but the AI buddy tends to be there more for backup, taking the occasional shot but generally trying to get the ball to you and acting as a second life. Unless you play on the hardest difficulty level, you can stand near to a downed buddy and revive them.
Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure has its good side. The campaign, while short, starts out fun and isn't lacking creative scenarios, while the multiplayer is good for a short romp. Sadly, the game is let down by the later campaign levels, the iffy AI, and the overall lack of content.
