Super Cane Magic Zero Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
If you’re tired of the same old gray and bloody action RPG, developer Studio Evil has just the game for you. Super Cane Magic ZERO is a not-so-serious take on the genre, as if the title didn’t make that obvious enough already. But looks can be deceiving, and this is one RPG that might deserve a longer look for those who so easily judge a book by its cover. Read our Super Cane Magic ZERO PS4 review to see if this co-op adventure is worth your time and moolah.
Super Cane Magic Zero is a great little loot-em-up that offers some fantastic local multiplayer action. The random loot mechanic will keep you coming back whilst the ridiculous storyline and setting should bring a smile to even the most joyless gamer. The difficulty is a bit much on anything but Easy, but it's still a fun grinder in single player and a multiplayer gem with friends and family. If nothing else, the fun of watching your gaming companions swallow a rock that looks like Donald Trump is a unique experience.
There are some things to like here. And the fact that Super Cane Magic Zero has been made by such a small team is worth applauding. I just wish it tried less hard to be funny and more hard to be fun. Cut down the loading times, give us a waypoint from time to time, and stop expecting us to pick up every item we see and we might have something worth spending time with. As is currently stands, Super Cane Magic Zero is just too frustrating to wholeheartedly enjoy.
I'm mostly disappointed in Super Cane Magic Zero. The fun, dumb world and deep RPG mechanics could have hooked me, but the punishing repetition and clunky combat kept me angry through almost all of my playtime. An extremely specific group of hardcore goofballs could have fun with Super Cane Magic Zero, but most players can find a better use for a group of friends.
