Super Lucky's Tale is a funny, joyous game with excellent mechanics and great characters. Microsoft has finally found their platformer.
It’s a shame then, that Super Lucky’s Tale will forever remain in the shadow of Super Mario Odyssey in the 3D platforming stakes. It’s cute, well-made and fun to play. Just because Lucky isn’t a plumber in blue dungarees doesn’t mean he isn’t worth your time. Give the little fox a chance, and you’ll likely be impressed with what you find.
This year has been a very good one for platform games inspired by the best titles of the past 15 years. Starting with Yooka-Laylee to A Hat in Time and, of course, the excellent Super Mario Odyssey, fans of the genre have had plenty to be happy about in 2017. If these titles are a bit too complex for one's taste, then Super Lucky’s Tale is the game to get: while not as good as some of the platform...
3D platformers are seeing a resurgence lately and now an adorable fox is throwing his cape in the ring. Super Lucky's Tale may look like a lovely take on the genre but does it live up to its contemporaries?
Despite all of the minor gameplay upgrades in Super Lucky’s Tale, I actually had a better time playing as Lucky in VR last year. It’s probably had far too much weight put upon its shoulders as the Xbox One X’s sole launch title, and is by no means perfect; a fact that’s been amplified by the recent antics of a dungaree-wearing plumber. However, while the genre has undoubtedly moved on, taken on its own merit Super Lucky...
Not a long tail.
Poor controls and a lousy camera doom the otherwise adorable-critter platformer Super Lucky's Tale.
This sequel to the VR-exclusive Lucky’s Tale shoulders the responsibility of launching a new Xbox hardware iteration and also proving itself in the world of traditional 3D platformers, and does a spectacularly average job of both.
Generous and inventive, this 3D platformer is filled with charm.
Super Lucky’s Tale on the Xbox One is a sequel/port of the Virtual Reality (VR) platformer, Lucky’s Tale. The game is cute and colourful and primarily aimed at a younger audience. From the very start the game tries to draw us into the cutesy world but falls short. To summarise a beginning that is way too long; Lucky is a cute fox, his sister is a guardian and there is a magic book he gets sucked i...
