It’s just a shame that The Witch and the Hundred Knight can’t always handle all of the action. Gameplay lags when there is too much happening, and voice samples drop out every now and again. A future patch will likely remedy these issues, but it’s something to keep in mind for the here and now.

The Witch and The Hundred Knight 2 is a worthwhile follow up to the first game and, even with some repetitive gameplay, is a solid title worth checking out.

The little knight who's always full of piss and vinegar is back in a long-awaited sequel to a somewhat obscure action RPG. The question is: does his adventure provide enough enjoyment for both existing fans and newcomers alike?

At the beginning of the game, we are introduced to Amalie and Milm, two sisters who have lost their parents to a witch. Milm comes home with a cut on her forehead, a mark that the villagers recognized as the Witch Disease, a horrible and mysterious disease that turns humans into witches. A hunter from the village offers to end Milm’s life quickly so she would not have to suffer, but Amalie fights against the idea of losing her only family member and instead offers to leave the village with Milm. A year later, Milm is undergoing surgery but unfortunately, it fails and the witch overtakes Milm’s...

A year after its Japanese release, The Witch And The Hundred Knight 2 has finally made it to Western consoles. Following the story of sisters Amalie and Milm, you play as the Hundred Knight – a doll brought to life by witchcraft to do the evil bidding of the young witch who has taken over Milm’s body after she contracts Witch’s Disease. You battle as the Hundred Knight in the quest to free Milm and uncover the secrets of the world in which the sisters live.

The story is horrible, the gameplay is a sea of boring with few bright spots, and there's little worth playing this game for. Though look up the soundtrack on Youtube.

The Hundred Knight is back to carry the action RPG mantle for NIS. Can a change in protagonists combined with procedurally generated dungeons breathe new life into this series?

Even though Gigacals is there to offer a challenge, it is easy to exploit and get around, removing any sense of real urgency. If Nippon Ichi had spent more time on this and maybe removed some things and made the characters a bit better I would happily say buy it, but in its current state I’d say rent it but only if you’re a fan of Nippon Ichi’s other works or action RPGs that hold strange stories.
