Tokyo Tattoo Girls Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
There’s no question that Tokyo Tattoo Girls is a very, very niche game. I’m genuinely surprised NISA even decided to localise and publish it, because the entire premise of the game relies on artistic, narrative, and cultural themes that are only vaguely known or understood in the west, if at all. That being said, I am so glad that I got to play the game. It isn’t what I was expecting, and initially it was confounding, but the more time I spent with it, the more I came to love it for its grungy underground spirit. Hopefully Sushi Typhoon has more success as a game development and publishi…
Tokyo Tattoo Girls is as niche as it's going to get and if that sounds like something you're into than you might find this title to be just what you want. I hope to see Sushi Typhoon Games evolve as a developer and take what's good about this game to create something more because this game has more in common with a random smartphone title than a proper strategy RPG.
It’s often interesting to see what niche games developers decide to bring over, as you look at some and wonder just how much of an audience it will find outside of Japan. Tokyo Tattoo Girls is definitely a strange game. If you’ve taken a look at any of the trailers for it then you can be forgiven for assuming that it’s going to be some kind of JRPG – even the opening cutscene feels like typical JRPG territory. But ignore your initial preconceptions, Tokyo Tattoo Girls is actually a strategy game and though it has the basis of something promising it unfortunately ends up falling a bit flat.
It’s a strategy game lacking in both strategy and gameplay, the plot is near non-existent, the dialogue is juvenile, and the presentation feels ripped from a budget title. I can, quite honestly, not think of a single redeeming quality for this game, other than the fact that it functions as a computer program.
Once in a while, a game releases with an indiscernible genre yet it's intriguing nonetheless. Tokyo Tattoo Girls certainly looks like a promising game so let's fly to post-apocalyptic Japan and see what these girls are up to.
STORY Tokyo Tattoo Girls , published by NIS America and Nikkatsu , starts off with fun and promise. In a post-apocalyptic world, there are special woman that are born with powers that are enhanced by tattoos. When you enter the game, there are 23 wards each with their own gang lord. And a
