This innovative debut visual novel from Cyrus Nemati and Little Bat Games is enlightening, endearing, and entertaining at every turn. Letting yourself get lost in this world is a must, and you’ll probably find something you really needed along the way.
I never would have guessed a game would come about that put the player in the shoes (or perhaps that should be cowboy boots) of a vampire who yearns to help
Most of us need a good dose of therapy these days, and one can only imagine just how much therapy a blood-sucking creature of the night might need after living for hundreds (or even thousands) of years. Every vampire needs a therapist, most media makes that pretty clear, and Vampire Therapist is here to help at least some of them become healthier people. Though not necessarily better people, blood is still very much on the menu.
Therapy can be an uncomfortable subject, with many of us thinking we don’t need it. It’s raw, painful, and sometimes feels like it isn’t helpful. But if you stick with it and allow yourself to participate, you can come out with hope for the future. Vampire Therapist brings this concept to the undead, with a vampire taking up the role to help others of his kind find peace. The journey is long and the problems are beyond human comprehension. Humans are messy creatures. We can love fiercely or devastate others. We can have wildly skewed impressions of others, as well as ourselves. Because we tend to feel things so powerfully, we can often feel lost within our own lives. For many, this is where having a good therapist can do wonders for our mental health. But what about those who aren’t human any longer, but were at one time? Just because vampires feed on the blood of others, does that mean they don’t also deserve some grace an...
Vampire Therapist is a compelling and educational romp with the spiciness of vampire life.
Vampire Therapist looks at these heavy topics from a therapeutic angle by teaching the cognitive distortions that can be associated with these difficulties, and can be a method of helping someone come to terms with their own situation, but should not be the only method of therapy used. It is vitally important that a player pays close attention to their own feelings and stays grounded in the real world while playing Vampire Therapist, and not be afraid to turn off the game and have some time to ponder when things get too triggering. These themes can bring up personal trauma with all the feeling...
A visual novel where I get to play as a cowboy vampire and assist troubled members of the undead? 'Sign me up', I thought to myself, this sounds great!
