Yomawari: Night Alone tells the haunting tale of a girl, seemingly alone, trying to find her sister and lost dog Poro in her small town. As our heroine's adventure beginss, it's clear from the offset that the town is haunted, and she must go on her quest without being caught by the many ghosts that roam the streets.

It’s hard to find a truly glaring flaw in Yomawari: Night Alone. My biggest complaint of a lack of story or creature explanations is honestly something that other players might have zero problems with. It’s even something that I admit myself adds to the mystique and charm of the game. I’m awful at playing horror games, and I’m always too scared to make any real progress. Yomawari creates a great atmosphere of tension and terror that rarely relies on cheap scares, and it was the perfect formula to keep me hooked until the end. If you’re looking for a good alternate horror game, look no further.

Dive into Yomawari: Night Alone expecting a bitesized creepy exploration adventure and you’ll have a lot of fun. Although a significant lack of actual scares is replaced more with a definite sense of unease and the story is rather secondary, the generally bleak and atmospheric small-town setting never fails to remain fun to investigate and run around in. Yomawari: Night Alone is a well thought-out survival game that uses stealth to a smart degree, even if you still “ain’t afraid of no ghosts” by the time the adventure comes to an end.

I still get chills thinking about my time with Yomawari: Night Alone. Whether it’s a particularly scary moment that pops into my head or one of the many weird visuals that I just can’t get out of my mind, this is a game that’s going to stick with me for a while. I just wish there was more of it for me to remember.

While it may try one's patience, the game still delivers a meaningful survival horror experience.
