Ys X: Proud Nordics Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Ys X: Proud Nordics feels like a greedy, poorly timed release. But it’s a vastly improved version of an already excellent game. Ys X: Nordics was one of the lesser Ys games, but the changes in Proud Nordics have now put it in the upper echelon of Ys games. There’s tons of new content, and the entire game has been carefully tweaked and rebalanced. If Ys X: Proud Nordics is a cash grab, it isn’t a lazy one. Ys X: Proud Nordics is one of the best action JRPGs ever, and a must-play for Ys fans.
Ys X: Proud Nordics is the definitive way to play Adol’s seafaring adventure with a great story alongside a strong, memorable cast and even better re-balanced combat. Enhancements, improvements, and new game modes make the latest release feel like a total package that the original should have been, but it’s a hard game to recommend to those who picked up the original, as a couple of extra hours of content is hard to justify.
It's been just over a year and we already have a new version of Adol's latest adventure and Ys X: Proud Nordics is downright wonderful.
Ys X: Proud Nordics sails onto Switch 2 with impressive 120 FPS performance and sharp DLSS visuals, yet struggles to justify its "full-price" re-release.
Ys X: Proud Nordics is coming out, filled with additional content and some quality-of-life changes for the action RPG.
Ys X: Proud Nordics is built on the solid bones of Ys X: Nordics. It, however, doesn’t add a lot of extra substance to warrant a new playthrough. It is the ultimate version of the game and the new recommended Ys to play for newcomers.
Ys X: Proud Nordics is the definitive version of the 2024 action RPG with new story and side content, improved gameplay and features, and amazing performance on Nintendo Switch 2. The lack of an upgrade path from Ys X: Nordics and the need to replay story content limits some of the game's potential, but Ys and action RPG fans are in for a treat nonetheless.
Ys X: Proud Nordics may not be the best the series has to offer, but the Switch 2 version is fantastic and the new content is great.
Another great entry into the long-running series, Ys X: Proud Nordics is highly recommended, provided you haven’t played the original. For those who have, there just isn’t enough new content to justify paying full price.
Landlubbers, ahoy! Adol is back in the definitive release of his latest adventure. Ys X follows the red-haired adventurer on his quest across Obelia Gulf with the sea-faring Normans.
A seafaring reinvention that redefines Adol’s legacy with bold systems and braver storytelling.
Even if it's the definitive way to experience Ys 10 with some genuinely fun new content, Proud Nordics only further showcases what could have been.
