Professional reviews from gaming critics
Refining and building on what came before, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 is a wholesale improvement from the original game. From casual multiplayer mayhem to a surprisingly robust single-player offering, effort has been poured into every facet of this title to deliver a memorable time that will absolutely be appreciated by fans and non-fans alike.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 improves on its predecessor in every way, offering more content, an enjoyable campaign, and tight, responsive fighting. Just please bring back CatDog!
If you are patient enough to make it through the horrendous load times throughout the game, you will more than likely find yourself having a great time with Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2. The gameplay improvements, including the super moves, were just what the game needed, and the addition of the campaign mode adds a lot more longevity to the overall experience that will keep players coming back for more. Even with some of the fan-favorite characters being cut from the roster, the game still boasts a very healthy and wide-ranging roster that makes Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 well worth picking...
While All-Star Brawl made good on certain elements of the Smash Bros. concept, it launched in a state that felt devoid of the personality of its roster, a game that was by all accounts bland, boring, and soulless. That said, its sequel is anything but.
All-Star Brawl 2 addressed a major issue that many had with the first game by bringing a good deal of charm and polish to everything. There’s copious voice acting, more expressive animation that often pays homage to all of these iconic characters and shows and an overall greater feeling that a lot of passion went into the game’s look. This is the thing that’s often missing in these crossover platformer fighters, so it was refreshing to see that All-Star Brawl 2 has this down.
“Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 brings more soul to the Nicktoon fighting series, making for a great sequel that overcomes some familiar quality control issues.”
I’ll admit that it’s been quite some time between drinks for me with platform fighting games like this, but Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 is a fairly good mix of nostalgia, new ideas and inoffensive fun. While it may not reach the sky-high standard of something like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate it gives 90s kids like me another way to beat up our friends while reminiscing about the good old days of racing home to watch your favourite cartoons and arguing about which of them could take the others.
All-Star Brawl 2 feels like a Smash clone and not much more, but fans of Nicktoons should still find a lot to love in this package brimming with care and nostalgia.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 is a fantastic 2D platform fighter that improves significantly on the original, but it does need a little work on Steam Deck.
It's been a couple of years and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 is now here so put on your SquarePants and hop into the arena.
Improved fighting mechanics and mode selection can't overcome some glaring weaknesses.
There are even some blatantly confusing roster choices, like the addition of TMNT characters Raphael and Donatello, who were missing from the first game. Instead of having all four (as requested by fans), we’ve just lost Mikey and Leonardo to make room for their brothers. A better move would’ve been to include the entire first roster, revamped, and then the addition of the new characters featured in this roster. Though twenty-five fighters may seem like a lot for a starting roster, and it is to an extent, when looking at something like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, we saw a starting roster of ov...
