The Forgotten City is a beauty to behold no matter the eye, a deeply contemplative story matched with wonderful puzzles based in classical antiquity.
The Forgotten City is an incredible game with meticulously crafted puzzles and an engrossing time loop story. While it has some quirks, this cloud version is a fantastic way to play the game thanks to the Switch’s portability.
That’s really the only sin committed here, because I love The Forgotten City. Its story and characters are thought-provoking and make you engage with the game in a multitude of ways. It actively pursued me to go for different endings, something I don’t often tend to do in video games. I really wanted to see all the ways in which the story unfolded and what that would mean for this hidden civilization. The endings left me all very satisfied and felt truly different from one another. While there definitely is a singular true ending, the game really gives most of its characters the time to sh…
The Forgotten City is a deeply satisfying puzzle adventure that will have you questioning what it means to sin.
A Roman city resides within a large mountain, hidden from light and prying eyes. Only 23 people call this secret society home, and they appear to live harmoniously together, but looks can be deceiving. Time has taken its toll on each soul, but they can never leave, and more pressing yet, cannot sin, for even the most minor white lie or act of theft will steal the life from everyone. An angry god lords over this cave, and any misgiving will trigger a curse called “The Golden Rule.” The offenses of previous generations can be seen across this city – grim reminders not to sin, no matter where you...
It's time to travel back 2000 years and visit a cursed ancient Roman city for this unique take on the murder mystery formula.
A deep and enjoyable time-loop mystery awaits you in an ancient Roman city.
You awake on the banks of the Tiber River. How did you get there? Why are you there? And what year is it? The answer to the last question is ostensibly "the present day." However, once you head into the nearby Roman ruins, you find yourself transported 2,000 years into…
For a game that was once a mere Skyrim mod, The Forgotten City manages to spin gold with a new loop on a 2000-year-old tale. It’s a mystery adventure that pulls the player into a time loop and demands you discover the truth behind its many threads. With a lively cast and well-written script, it’s not hard to see why the mod won a Writers Guild Award back in 2017. Now released as a standalone product and borrowing the best parts from its predecessor, the small Melbourne development team at...
The Forgotten City has finally arrived and with it, so too does our look into this fully-fledged game that first started out life as an Elders Scrolls Skyrim mod designed by a pair of Australians.
Some reservations keep it from attaining Legion-dary status among the new wave of time loop games, but its exceptional narrative ensures I won't forget it either.Time loops are quietly becoming all the rave these days. Although not before Eiji Aonuma &Yoshiaki Koizumi (Majora's Mask), [...]
Turning a Skyrim mod into a full game is an impressive feat on its own, but to then make it something worth playing is a whole different ball game. The Forgotten City, from developer Modern Storyteller, feels a lot like The Elder Scrolls titles of years past. However, contrasting the main quest of Tamriel's northern region is a tale actually worth seeing through to its end.
