With the latest Jurassic Park film smashing up records in a bid to prove that we all still love dinosaurs smashing stuff up, and eating stupid people, it was only a matter of time before a tie in game came along. Personally I’m still waiting for my Jurassic Park vs Godzilla idea to spring into action, but I suppose this will have to do for now. Mercifully it has been entrusted to the lovely folk at TT Games, so you know that no matter what it will poke fun at the source material.
It was just over a year ago that Dark Souls II emerged and we were tasked with “preparing to die” all over again. Despite repeated claims to the contrary it seems as if developer From Software finally caved to peer pressure and has rustled up a brand spanking new version for the latest generation of consoles, throwing in all of the DLC elements, mixing up enemy placements and giving the visuals a fresh lick of paint. So is it worth the trip back to Drangleic?
Every now and then I stare at the bonus dust catcher that came with my pristine new Xbox One and wonder why Microsoft even bothered naming it. I mean Kinect is a weird name for something that helps to keep your house clean. Ooooooh, maybe it’s connecting dust motes together or something? Think about it. It totally makes sense. Obviously that big old brick has a secondary purpose for playing games, allegedly that is, as there has been a severe dearth of Kinect-only titles since MS first deci...
Skylanders is basically Call of Duty for kids in that, no matter what the game includes, it’ll sell a ton of copies and leave parents wondering where all of their money went come Christmas. In fact, the bodycount in Skylanders is probably way higher than in Call of Duty, as the violence against chompers and their ilk is truly off the charts. But hey, if it means our collection of sweet figurines can continue to grow, then I’m all for it.
How do you follow a story as epic as the Lord of the Rings? With great difficulty it seems, as focusing on the prequel, The Hobbit, has turned into something of a love and hate relationship. While fans are excited to see more of Middle-earth there are justifiable questions about creating a trilogy of films that take more time to watch than it would to actually read the book. Stuffed with plot points from some of Tolkien’s other works, bloated by filler material and generally not as interest...
I awaken, face down, on a stone slab. My clothes are tattered and encrusted with blood, my memory is hazy. Small creatures scatter in my wake as I stumble towards the only source of light up ahead. An ominous set of footprints lead up to a hulking, one-eyed creature but I resist the urge to rush over and lay into him with my fists. After all, life is precious right? I wander into the nearby cottage for a discussion with a group of crones and my memories slowly return. As does a swish new outf...
The short version of this Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII review is this: If you haven’t played FFXIII or FFXIII-2 then don’t bother with this. Frankly the storyline is likely to be a perplexing quagmire even for those who are au fait with the series, so newcomers would be best to steer clear. With that in mind you can also expect brief spoilers here for the aforementioned games. It’s kind of unavoidable, such is the nature of the beast. With all that being said we can now welcome...
My name is Duchess Gummybuns, and this here is the slamacow review of Adventure Time Explore the Dungeon Because I DON'T KNOW! Truly the grand vizier of all video game names, but does it have the mathematical skills to deliver an experience that can match the hilarious, surreal and weird nature of the show? Mixing a blend of pop culture references, quick fire humour, sarcasm and, obviously, fart jokes means Adventure Time has quickly built up something of a cult following. So here is the chan...
Sometimes you forget that Activision produce other games besides Call of Duty, and then you remember just how much money Skylanders has raked in during its short time on the market. Ostensibly a game that carried on the Spyro story, the series has become less about the titular purple dragon and more and more about the huge backlog of other characters that stand alongside him. Hidden amongst the bevy of merchandising opportunities is still a very solid kids game but one that seems to have beco...
Diablo III is a maths game. It’s also an RPG but, somehow, that feels much less important to the never ending quest for statistical perfection. Diablo itself is much heralded as the greatest of all dungeon crawling games, a peculiar genre that focuses less on story and more on exploration and treasure snagging. It is basically designed to appeal to anyone with even the slightest hint of OCD and does so very well and, for a game that came out on PC a year ago, it has finally made the progres...
