A stunning example of simple, well executed game that leans into the cult theme really well

Cute but morbid, Cult of the Lamb quickly won us over with its varied gameplay and, many hours later, still has its hooks in us. It’s not very often that a game has you sacrificing new friends to a demon, but then Cult of the Lamb isn’t like anything else we’ve ever played. Its town building gameplay works seamlessly alongside its roguelite combat, both keeping you absorbed in their own ways. This is innovative indie gaming at its finest, and we can’t get enough.

Cult of the Lamb is a brilliant fusion of Binding of Isaac and Animal Crossing, with an evil twist, and a charming artstyle. The combat is tight, although somewhat limited, and the rewarding base building system is a joy to play with. While it may not top many Game of the Year lists, the 10-15 hour journey is still absolutely worth experiencing, especially considering the low price. It also features unique visuals and an excellent soundtrack which makes it that much more fun to play. Simply put – don’t miss out on this one.

Overall, I can see this game appealing to any gamer, regardless of whether they like the horror aspect of it. Although I’m not a huge fan of horror themes in a game, Cult of the Lamb was just tame enough for me to overlook it for the great gameplay, fun mechanics like naming cult members, and the incredibly satisfying combat.

The Word of Cult of the Lamb is good, providing roguelike action with heaps of that good ol' fashioned ultraviolence. Those that don't mind a lack of depth with its cult management shenanigans - and can also turn a blind third eye to its hit-and-miss weapon selection - have found their calling.

Developed by Massive Monster and published by Developer Digital, Cult of The Lamb seamlessly blends roguelike elements with a management sim. With its quick pace and vibrant aesthetic, Cult of The Lamb has created an incredibly addicting title.

Aug 10, 2022 Read Review

Cult of the Lamb proves to be a remarkably fresh take on the roguelite genre, not just in its goofy and creepy aesthetic, but in its smart blending of action and survival mechanics. Gameplay remains tense without ever feeling like it’s unfair and a steady stream of unlockables and collectables ensures that your efforts are always rewarded. It’s just a shame that the performance isn’t up to snuff, at least at launch, as that’s really the only major complaint that we have here. We’d still give this a hearty recommendation to anyone who thinks it might be up their alley; it may not be everyone’s ...

“Cult of the Lamb excels as a darkly comedic management game, though its roguelite component commits some cardinal sins.”

Aug 10, 2022 Read Review

Cult of the Lamb is devoted to a mix of gameplay styles that just doesn't gel. It's an addictive way to spend a dozen hours, but it's nothing worth your worship.

If you fall in love with the main loop and the freedom to design and interact with your followers, then you can expect to take at least 30 fun hours out of it, but don’t go in there expecting anything innovative in either the rouge-like or management-sim departments.
